Melkersson-Rosenthal Syndrome

Melkerson-Rosenfeld syndrome is a rare genetically inherited disease manifested by a congenital disorder of the structure and location of facial muscles and paresis of the facial nerve. The development of the syndrome can be provoked by stress or hypothermia. The clinical picture of Melkers-Rosenfield syndrome can vary significantly in different patients. The disease may appear at an early age or occur randomly. Incomplete paralysis is characteristic. Patients cannot twist their tongue or raise their eyebrows. The face is asymmetrical, the corners of the lips are lowered, the nasolabial fold is smoothed.
