First, it’s worth understanding what physiological graying is. The natural appearance of gray hair occurs when the melanin coloring process in the hair slows down or stops completely. This is a natural and inevitable aging process that begins with age.

Physiological graying becomes obvious at the age of 30-35 years. Each strand in the hair has shafts and bulbs where the pigment melanin (the protein that is responsible for hair color) is located. With physiological graying, the hair shafts stop producing melanin and the hair color gradually changes from dark to white.
