September is the month of rose hips and prevention

According to doctors' forecasts, a flu epidemic will soon come to Ukraine. And although there is still sun outside, many are already coughing and sneezing. In order not to get sick, you need to do prevention in time, and traditional medicine will absolutely help with this, and not harmful chemicals. September is the time to remember the rose hips, the fruits of which are already ripe by this time. This plant has been used as a medicine since ancient Greece. In the 4th century. BC. Theophrastus in his “Natural History” gave such a detailed description of it that it was reprinted for several hundred years practically unchanged. Muslims have long considered the rose hip a sacred flower that gives life and health. In Rus', it was used as lotions and poultices to heal wounds or prevent gangrene. As a rule, the preparation of ripe fruits is done before frost, while they are hard, since soft ones are easily crushed, and when dried, the content of vitamins in them decreases, among which C - ascorbic acid predominates.

Chinese healers use rosehip roots as a digestive and anthelmintic. In Tibetan medicine, the fruits of the plant are used to treat pulmonary tuberculosis, neurasthenia and atherosclerosis. Cinnamon rosehip flowers are used to make jam or chewed for arrhythmias to strengthen the heart muscle. Rose aromatic water, popular in cosmetology, is made from infused delicate rosehip petals. The oil has a general strengthening effect, enhances tissue regeneration and hormone synthesis, reduces vascular permeability, and has anti-inflammatory properties.

Vitamin infusion
Pour 20 g of rose hips into 500 ml of boiling water. Leave for 2-3 hours. Take 100 ml half an hour before meals 2 times a day (be sure to filter). Cook for no more than 2 days.

Rosehip decoction (dried)
Crush 100 g of dry rose hips with a pestle, remove the separated hairs, pour the rest into 1 liter of water, boil in a sealed container for 5-7 minutes, let it brew for 2-3 hours, strain through three layers of gauze. To improve taste, add sugar or honey.

Rosehip decoction with lemon juice
Rinse 20 g of dried rose hips, add 150 ml of water, boil for 10 minutes. Let it brew for 2-3 hours and strain. You can add 1 teaspoon of sugar. Pour in 20 g of lemon juice.

Rose hip syrup
Rinse 1 kg of fresh fruits, separated from seeds, thoroughly in cold water, then remove hairs and grind in a meat grinder. Pour 6 glasses of water, boil for 10 minutes, add 1 kg of sugar and continue cooking for 15-20 minutes. Strain through a sieve and bottle.

Rosehip drink with blueberries
3 tbsp. spoons of crushed dried rose hips and 1 tbsp. Mix a spoonful of dried blueberries, add 5 cups of boiling water, leave for 15-20 minutes. Strain the broth. Pour boiling water over the pomace again. Combine both decoctions, add 3 tbsp. spoons of honey.

Vitamin teas
Rose hips and black currants (can be dried) are brewed as tea. Equal parts of rose hips and rowan (they can be frozen beforehand) are also poured with boiling water, infused and drunk instead of tea.
