Extension

Extension is a movement in which the angle between two joint surfaces increases, resulting in lengthening of the muscles and a decrease in their tension. This movement is possible in many joints of the human body and plays an important role in daily tasks and sports exercises.

One of the most common examples of extension is straightening the arm at the elbow. This gesture is used in everyday life to perform various actions, such as picking up objects, closing doors, or pressing keyboard keys. In sports, extension is also an important movement that is used in exercises using training equipment such as barbells, dumbbells and machines.

Extension can be either active, that is, performed using muscle tension, or passive, when pressure on the joint is exerted by an external force. For example, when performing an exercise on a leg extension machine, the muscles of our body do not tense, and the joint expands due to the pressure on the legs from the weight block.

Although extension is a natural movement for the human body, insufficient or limited extension can lead to various health problems. For example, limited joint extension may occur due to injury or prolonged lack of movement in the joint. This can lead to pain, dysfunction and limitation of movement in daily life.

Overall, extension is an important movement that plays an important role in human life and sports. Regular extension exercises will help keep your joints and muscles healthy, as well as improve their flexibility and prepare them for more challenging exercises.
