Nasal Pit

The nasal pit is a triangle-shaped depression at the back of the nose, located between the base of the nose and the upper lip. It is one of the six points where a person can smell and is involved in the sense of smell.

The nasal cavity is filled with many odor receptors, which are located in the mucous membrane and skin. These receptors can sense odor molecules such as essential oils and pheromones and transmit signals to the brain. Thanks to these signals, a person senses the smells of surrounding objects and people.

The olfactory fossa contains blood vessels that supply odorant receptors, as well as olfactory nerve cells that transmit nerve impulses from odorant receptors to the brain. The olfactory organ works continuously, and there is constant recombination and renewal of receptor cells to provide more accurate and complete
