Pellagra

Pellagra is a disease that develops due to a lack of nicotinic acid in the body. Nicotinic acid is one of the B vitamins and is necessary for the normal functioning of the body.

Pellagra can occur due to a lack of consumption of foods containing niacin, or due to insufficient synthesis of this acid in the body due to the amino acid tryptophan.

Because of these symptoms, pellagra is called the “three Ps.”

To prevent pellagra, it is necessary to eat food containing sufficient amounts of nicotinic acid and tryptophan. It is also important to monitor your health and consult a doctor if symptoms of the disease appear.
