Erba Spinal Paralysis

Erba spinal palsy or simply Paralysis agitans (synonyms - trembling toes disease and syphilitic paralysis) is a slowly occurring chronic progressive disease of the nervous system caused by Treponema pallidum (the causative agent of syphilis).

Manifested by the appearance of “diseases of trembling” fingers and toes, impaired muscle strength, atrophy, seizures, cerebellar disorders; changes in the spinal cord and its membranes. Symptoms are in many ways similar to manifestations of lateral thoracic or lumbar
