Holoenzyme

Holoenzymes are complex enzymes that have a structure different from the structure of simple enzymes in the presence of a large number of subunits. Holoenzymes have two important properties: lack of activity in the absence of all subunit components and high enzymatic activity after their formation as a result of a spontaneous chemical reaction. However, some holoenzymes may have little or no activity until they react with a specific substrate or are otherwise coupled with the appropriate enzyme, at which time they become active.
