Isomerases

Isomerases are enzymes that catalyze isomerization reactions, that is, the conversion of one molecule into another while maintaining the molecular formula. These enzymes are widely used in various industries such as pharmaceuticals, petrochemicals, food processing and textiles.

One of the main properties of isomers is their ability to change the properties of molecules, which is why isomerases play an important role in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries. For example, cis and trans isomers are key compounds in drug design. Pharmacologists use isomerase to transform molecules of the original drug into molecules with less toxicity, improving pharmacokinetics and increasing effectiveness.
