Crigler-Najjar Syndrome

Crigler Nayyar Syndrome is a rare genetic disorder that results in severe deficiency of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD). This disorder is caused by a mutation in the gene that codes for the G6PD enzyme. People suffering from this syndrome may experience various symptoms such as jaundice, fatigue, abdominal pain, anemia and bleeding. Treatment for this disease usually involves replacing the G6PD enzyme through injections or a bone marrow transplant. However, despite all modern treatment methods, Crigler-Neyhard syndrome remains a dangerous and potentially fatal disease. It is more common in blacks and Africans when their ancestors were born in Africa. Crigler-Nayyar syndrome is one of the most severe and dangerous genetic diseases.
