Olfactory Stalk

Smell is one of the most important senses for a person. It helps us distinguish between different aromas and determine the quality of food, which is why the olfactory stalk is so important for our body.

The olfactory membrane is located at the top of the facial part of the skull. This is one of the five sections of the brain, it is the largest in volume

The olfactory stalk is a paired protrusion of the embryonic telencephalon, which is an undifferentiated rudiment of the olfactory pathway\[1\]. During embryogenesis of most higher vertebrates and humans, the olfactory pathway develops from the olfactory stalk and passes through the facial bones and nasal turbinates to the root of the sense of smell.
