Pumping up the gluteal muscles, abdominal muscles or biceps is a common thing for many who watch their figure. However, few people know, and simply few people attach importance to the fact that facial muscles can also be successfully corrected with the help of special exercises.

Yoga for facial muscles or face building

Today, there is a technique that is aimed at preserving the beauty of the face for the longest possible time and maintaining the facial muscles in normal tone. It is also very useful for those who want to correct facial asymmetry. This technique is called face building.

uprazhneniya-dlya-AhCIYsm.webp

The history of Facebook building

This technique for face lifting and correction was discovered by German plastic surgeon Reinhold Benz. This happened back in 1930. Once, the famous ballerina Eva Hoffman, who had age-related problems, turned to the surgeon for help. At that time she was 40 years old, and she had a desire to correct her facial asymmetry.

uprazhneniya-dlya-kDSWGVu.webp

The professor examined her for a long time, thinking about what to offer as an alternative to operations. And suddenly the thought occurred to him that her body at 40 years old is in excellent shape thanks to constant stress in the form of training. However, he could not say the same about the ballerina’s face. And Reinhold decided to develop a separate technique that could help such ladies correct facial asymmetry on their own.

Reasons why the face has an asymmetrical shape

The shape of a person’s face directly depends on the structure of his body, his physical condition and health. Many experts argue that problems with the musculoskeletal system can provoke disturbances in the shape of the face, and manifestation in the form of asymmetry.

Thus, scoliosis and lordosis can provoke similar problems that will manifest themselves from the heels to the crown. Therefore, if they are present, you need to monitor your health in order to notice problems in time and begin therapy to correct facial asymmetry.

If you do not take the necessary measures in a timely manner in this situation, serious complications may arise that will have to be dealt with by more serious methods. These also include surgical interventions.

Gymnastics against facial asymmetry

You can start performing such exercises without any additional tests or examinations. However, an oral consultation with a doctor will still not be superfluous. You need to seek help from a surgeon or, if there is a sought-after face builder in the city, this will be much better. Every experienced specialist will say that you need to start doing exercises for facial asymmetry with general strengthening ones:

  1. Place four fingers of both hands on your forehead. Now we try our best to lower it without removing our fingers. You need to repeat 5-10 times, then increase the number to 20.
  2. We open our eyes wide, as if protruding them and straining our eyelids. We stay in this position for a few seconds. Then we repeat 10 times.
  3. We place the same fingers on our cheeks, pressing them. Now we try to inflate them and quickly release the air. Then we repeat this exercise 10 times.
  4. We move the lower jaw forward and backward, repeat 10 times.
  5. Now we move it to the left the same amount, then to the right.
  6. Now do the chin exercises. You should try to push it forward as much as possible, then return it to its original position. Repeat also 10 times.

Now exercises directly against asymmetry. So, sit down as comfortably as possible and begin:

  1. We close our eyes as tightly as possible. Then we relax them and repeat 5-10 times.
  2. We place our fingers above the eyebrows near the temporal region. Then we look up and then down with our eyes.
  3. We make a surprised face, raising our eyebrows as high as possible. Then relax the facial muscles and repeat the exercise 10 times.
  4. We close our mouth tightly, closing our lips, and pulling them out with a thin thread we say a long “eeeeee.”
  5. Using your tongue, draw a circle on the inside of each cheek 10–15 times.

How to check your face for asymmetry?

To understand how “wrong” your face is, you can ask someone close to you to take a photo of you. At the same time, you don’t need to smile and try to look pretty in the photo.

uprazhneniya-dlya-lMzaJt.webp

The photo should be similar to the one in your passport.

Now you need to arm yourself with a ruler. With its help, you need to draw a line through the two pupils, through the eyebrows and lips. This way you can see how smooth the lines are and which area needs to be worked on more carefully.

uprazhneniya-dlya-DvDIfF.webp

Taking into account these recommendations, you can correct facial asymmetry yourself. But don't expect this to happen within a week. A good result requires patience, desire and, of course, some effort.

Purpose of the training: correct facial asymmetry at 3 points (eyebrows, eyes, lips).

A person’s face is not symmetrical, just like the body, and this is not surprising.

However, there are cases when facial asymmetry is severe and causes you psychological discomfort. Let me make a reservation right away that not all types of asymmetry can be corrected with exercises.

Asymmetry cannot be corrected with exercises if:

  1. it is caused by bone deformities;
  2. pathological deformities;
  3. very “old” neuritis of the facial nerve;
  4. in some cases, the consequences of Botex injections are the so-called side effects.

Reasons for asymmetry

Also, facial asymmetry largely depends on the condition of your body. You can read about the relationship between the face and body here.

In a nutshell, with scoliosis, lordosis, pelvic distortions and other changes in the musculoskeletal system, asymmetry occurs and its correction should begin with the heels!

But ASYMMETRY can be a consequence of excessive facial expressions, facial antics and behavioral habits. All this becomes clear when you look closely at your face on video, for example.

Smile, talk, chew on one side only, or constantly raise one of your eyebrows. Remember the existence of muscle memory? And she remembers about you and pulls her active eyebrow upward all the time, and makes one eye look smaller.

How to measure asymmetry?

How to check facial symmetry? Need a photo! Move your hair away from your face and ask to take a photo of you. The photo is like a passport: we don’t smile, we don’t try to look great in the photo.

We take a ruler and draw a horizontal line along the eyes (pupils), eyebrows, and lips. Start with the eyes. After all, our internal spirit level (level) tends to the horizon just in the eye area, so that you can walk smoothly and not fall.

Now let’s look at the 3 resulting lines. Perhaps one eyebrow will be higher and the other lower, the corners of the lips may not be on the same line.

Remember that there are acceptable values for asymmetry and this is absolutely natural and does not require adjustment.

Where there are deviations from the horizon, you need to work with the muscles, and for some it will be enough to correct behavioral stereotypes and everything will fall into place on the face.

Exercises for the face for asymmetry

Let's move on to the exercises. By the way, they can be combined with any of the complexes: 8 facial exercises for every day, Face-building exercises for beginners. Just add them to your training program. For example, doing exercises for the forehead area, then do exercises to correct asymmetry in the same area.

In the example, I am considering the option of correcting one-sided facial asymmetry, when the part of the face located lower relative to its half works worse, you feel it less! For example, the left eyebrow, left eye, left corner of the lip are located lower than on the right side of the face - such asymmetry is called ONE-SIDED.

Facial asymmetry can be diagonal or complex. In such cases, it is better to select exercises individually.

30 reps recommended, at the last count there is a static delay of 5 seconds. The training is based on performing the “BASE” - basic exercises with the addition of special exercises to correct the asymmetry of a specific zone.

Forehead. Correction of eyebrow position

Exercise #1: Raising your eyebrows up

This is a basic exercise. When performing it, pay attention to your eyebrows? Which one rises worse? Which one do you feel less?

Place your fingers above your eyebrows. Push your eyebrows up with force, using your fingers to resist. Make sure that during the exercise there are no horizontal wrinkles on the forehead, try to relax your shoulders and lower them down, tightly fix the skin above the eyebrows. After completing the exercise, tap your fingers on your forehead.

Let's move on to a set of exercises for correcting different eyebrow height positions:

Exercise No. 2: alternately raising eyebrows

Place your fingers on the forehead, above the eyebrows, and lightly hold the skin with your phalanges so that it does not gather in folds. Now raise your eyebrows alternately: then left, then right.

Feel which of the eyebrows rises worse, or when raising one of their eyebrows, tension and discomfort arises. The eyebrow that rises worse needs to be extended by 2 counts: 1-raised, 2-extended. After completing the exercise, tap your fingers on your forehead.

Exercise No. 3: raising one eyebrow

After you have found an eyebrow that works worse and is located lower, you need to “train” it separately.

We fix the eyebrow that is located above with our hand, and lift the other one up, holding the skin above the eyebrow with the phalanges of our fingers so that it does not gather in folds. After completing the exercise, tap your fingers on your forehead.

Eyes

Exercise No. 1: to strengthen the upper eyelid

This is a basic exercise. While performing, monitor the sensations under your index fingers; under one of your fingers, pulsation; muscle tremors will be less pronounced. When you close this eye, try to press the lower eyelid a little harder with your upper eyelid. IMPORTANT! Do not press too hard with your fingers and do not stretch the skin in different directions!

We hold the corners of the eyes with our fingers and close our eyes with a little effort, pressing the upper eyelid onto the lower ones. Try to keep your eyebrows in place and not crawl down behind your upper eyelid, and relax your forehead. Then we open our eyes. After completing the exercise, blink your eyes.

Exercise No. 2: alternate work of the eyes

Let's close our eyes one by one. We place the index and middle fingers in the corners of the eyes, without pressing or pulling the skin. We close our eyes in turn: left, right, left. When you close one eye, you need to keep the other open. Be sure to relax your forehead so that the eyebrow does not fall down along with the upper eyelid. After completing the exercise, blink your eyes.

Corners of lips

Exercise No. 1: helps to raise drooping corners of the lips

This is a basic exercise. Use your fingers to fix the nasolabial area (from the corner of the mouth to the nostril). Raise the corners of your lips upward, as if you were smiling, apply resistance with your fingers, the movement of the corners of your lips goes up under your eyes, while the center of your lips is relaxed. Try not to let your fingers run across your face; when you lift, the corner of your lip rests on your fingers.

Exercise No. 2: alternately raising the corners of the lips

Use your fingers to fix the nasolabial area (from the corner of the mouth to the nostril). We lift the corners of our lips up IN ALTERNATION, as if we are smiling with one corner of our lips, we apply resistance with our fingers, the movement of the corners of our lips goes up under our eyes, while the center of our lips is relaxed. Try not to let your fingers run across your face; when you lift, the corner of your lip rests on your fingers.

Exercise No. 3: raising one corner of the lip

Using our fingers, we fix the nasolabial area (from the corner of the mouth to the nostril) from the side of the corner of the lip, which is located below. We simply fix the opposite corner of the mouth with our hand so that it does not get involved in the work. We lift the corner of our lips upward, as if we are smiling with one corner of our lips, we apply resistance with our fingers, the movement of the corner of our lips goes up under the eye, while the center of our lips is relaxed. Try not to let your fingers run across your face; when you lift, the corner of your lip rests on your fingers.

The face is the part of the body that people pay attention to first when meeting someone. At the same time, a small degree of its asymmetry is not noticed by others. It has been proven that there is not a single person on the planet who has exactly the same halves of their face. Even identical twins can be distinguished by the asymmetry of the oval. This is an indicator that is an individual characteristic of each person. But there is also a pathological violation of facial symmetry. In such situations, it is necessary to contact a neurologist. The specialist will conduct diagnostic measures, based on the results of which he will decide on the advisability of surgical intervention. For mild cases of impairment, cosmetic treatment methods are used.

Reasons for the imbalance

The symmetry of the face and its shape directly depend on the structure of bone and cartilage structures, the tone and volume of muscle tissue, and the thickness of the subcutaneous fat layer. From an aesthetic and cosmetic point of view, the most significant formation is the nose. In most cases, it is its shape and size that have a great influence on the symmetry of the face. The nose also plays a major role in cases of disproportion.

All patients who visit a doctor for the first time want to know how to make their face more symmetrical. However, it is necessary to distinguish between physiological norms of deviation and pathological disorders. In many cases, correction is not required at all, or it is enough to undergo a course of appropriate procedures from a cosmetologist.

Violation of symmetry is present in all people, but visually it is invisible. If the deviation in proportions is no more than 3 mm (or 5 degrees), it is customary to speak of a physiological norm. In such situations, neither medication nor surgical treatment is carried out.

Pathological disproportion can be congenital, acquired or combined. In the first case, the causes of facial asymmetry are the following conditions:

  1. Anomalies in the development of bone structures of the facial skull.
  2. Improperly formed temporomandibular joint.
  3. Torticollis, resulting from a unilateral defect of the sternocleidomastoid muscle.
  4. Insufficient development of the lower jaw.
  5. Strabismus.
  6. Incorrect or insufficient development of facial muscles or connective tissue.

Acquired facial asymmetry is more often diagnosed. Its causes are the following diseases and conditions:

  1. Injuries of various kinds.
  2. Inflammatory processes affecting the mandibular joints.
  3. Neurological pathologies.
  4. Disorders of the dental system.

At the same time, neurological diseases are of greatest importance in the formation of disproportions:

  1. Facial contracture. It is characterized by an increase in the tone of the muscle tissue of the same name on the opposite side of the face.
  2. Bell's palsy.
  3. Various types of damage to the facial nerve.
  4. Pathological syskinesia.
  5. Myasthenic syndrome.

If you suspect a disproportion, you should contact a neurologist. At the initial stage, it is this specialist who carries out diagnostic measures and tells how to make the face symmetrical.

uprazhneniya-dlya-AiPpL.webp

Types of imbalance

First of all, facial expression disorders are a consequence of the lack of symmetry in the hemispheres of the brain. Each of them regulates sensations and motor skills in different ways. Based on this, doctors have compiled a unified classification of disorders, which is used not only in neurology, but also in plastic surgery and cosmetology.

  1. Static (morphological). At rest, you can notice the difference between some elements. The causes may be developmental anomalies, injuries, pathologies of muscle and bone structures, as well as previous diseases.
  2. Dynamic (functional). Asynchronous muscle contractions appear only during facial expressions. For example, asymmetry that is absent at rest occurs when smiling. In most cases, the cause is neurological disorders.

The type of disproportion and the degree of its severity are of decisive importance when choosing treatment tactics.

How to independently identify asymmetry

The violation can also be determined in home or other comfortable conditions for a person. To do this, you need to take a passport photo. There is no need to smile or squint your eyes.

Then you need to analyze the resulting photograph. To do this, use a ruler to draw a horizontal line along the pupils, lips and eyebrows. It is recommended to start with the eyes. This is due to the fact that the human internal level tends to the horizon precisely in their zone. Nature designed it this way so that people can walk smoothly and not fall.

If any part of the face is higher or lower than the same area on the opposite side by less than 3 mm, there is no cause for concern. This is a physiological norm; this disorder does not require correction. If you wish, you can contact a cosmetologist. The specialist will individually select the most suitable procedures.

If the disproportion indicator is more than 3 mm (or 5 degrees), it is recommended to consult a neurologist to exclude the development of serious pathologies. This specialist will also tell you how to achieve facial symmetry. If necessary, he will arrange a referral to a surgeon.

Gymnastics

Exercises for facial symmetry are indicated for individuals with both congenital and acquired disproportion. According to medical reviews, gymnastics in some cases can even be considered as an alternative to surgical treatment. This is due to its high degree of efficiency.

However, it is important to know that gymnastics does not always help with facial asymmetry. It will not be possible to correct the disproportion with exercises if the disorder is a consequence of bone and other pathological deformations, and also if it develops against the background of neuritis that appeared a long time ago.

In other cases, gymnastics is indicated. How to remove facial asymmetry (set of exercises):

  1. Place your palm on the healthy part. Fingers should be pointing upward. Then you need to put the back of your hand on the affected part. After this, you need to carefully pull the skin from the healthy side up and towards the diseased area. The movements should be massaging.
  2. Close eyes. Press your eyelids with your middle fingers. Make circular movements, lightly pressing on the eye muscles. The healthy part must be massaged from top to bottom, the affected part - from bottom to top.
  3. Place your index fingers on the wings of your nose. Then you need to stroke the healthy area from top to bottom, the affected area towards the upper part of the face.
  4. Place the middle finger of one hand on the nasolabial triangle, and the other under the lip. Healthy muscles must be carefully pulled down, damaged ones - up.
  5. Place the middle and index fingers above each eyebrow strictly in the center. Then you need to use circular massaging movements to move healthy muscles down, sick muscles to the center and up.

It is important to do gymnastics daily. Each exercise should take 10 minutes. Upon completion of the complex, the facial muscles should be symmetrical. At the initial stages of treatment, this effect persists for a short period. Over time, the results improve.

Doctors have developed a separate set of exercises for patients with neuritis. To make your face symmetrical, you need to do them daily:

  1. Close your eyes tightly. Duration - 10 seconds.
  2. Slowly frown your eyebrows. Then raise them as high as possible along with the eyelids.
  3. Place your fingers on the wings of your nose. When inhaling, you need to press on them.
  4. Slowly inflate and lift the wings of the nose.
  5. Stretch your lips in a smile, exposing as many teeth as possible.
  6. Take a deep breath, puff out your cheeks and hold the air inside for 10 seconds.
  7. With your lips stretched, pronounce the sound “eeee”.
  8. Open your mouth slightly and curl your tongue into a tube. Take a deep breath.
  9. Make circular movements with your tongue between your cheeks and teeth.

Exercises must be done daily for six months. If after 6 months the facial asymmetry is still noticeable, you cannot do without the help of a surgeon. This is due to the fact that the disproportion can be a consequence of atrophy not only of the nerve, but also of the muscle.

Using fillers

The volumetric modeling procedure is suitable for most people who ask a doctor about how to make their face symmetrical. Several years ago, this technology involved the subcutaneous injection of hyaluronic acid. However, microtraumas remained after the procedure. The essence of the technology remains the same, but now it is more advanced and is not associated with side effects.

Using microtraumatic cannulas, fillers are injected under the skin. These are substances based on hyaluronic acid. Correcting facial asymmetry with fillers (a photo of the drug injection process is presented below) is a safe and effective method. Moreover, the result is visible after the first procedure. In one session it is possible to raise an eyebrow, shape lips, and change the position of eyelids.

Immediately after the injections, the person can begin their daily activities. The swelling of the soft tissues is so insignificant that it is unnoticeable to others. It is only recommended to refrain from being in direct sunlight and visiting saunas and steam baths for a while.

uprazhneniya-dlya-CncdIF.webp

Botulinum toxin injections

The technique involves introducing a compound under the skin, which paralyzes the muscles. Before you try to make your face symmetrical with Botox, you should consult your doctor. The compound is toxic, in addition, most patients often develop all sorts of complications after the procedure. They go away on their own after a few days, but during this period they can cause discomfort to the person.

The result depends on the drug used and the qualifications of the doctor. It happens that after injections the muscles continue to work actively, or, on the contrary, they become blocked so that the effect of a lifeless mask appears on the person’s face. In addition, the degree of imbalance may increase.

Thus, only a doctor should provide information regarding how to make the face symmetrical. If he believes that it is advisable to administer botulinum toxin, he must make an appointment with a highly qualified specialist, whose reviews of his work are mostly positive.

Correction using decorative cosmetics

If the disproportion is minor, you can visually add symmetry to your face using makeup. For correction, you need to purchase a sculpting kit. It contains products with creamy and dry textures, presented in light, natural and dark shades.

To hide asymmetry, you must follow certain application guidelines. Rules for using the set:

  1. You need to darken those areas that are supposed to be reduced or completely hidden.
  2. The light shade is intended for areas that need to be visually enlarged.

The boundaries between areas should always be carefully shaded.

You can hide eye asymmetry using white and black pencils. Light eyelids need a smaller eyelid, dark ones need a larger eyelid.

Women are additionally recommended to give preference to casual styling and long oblique bangs. Such a hairstyle helps in some cases to hide even pronounced disproportion.

uprazhneniya-dlya-qiwGIT.webp

Drug therapy

Depending on the causes, treatment of facial asymmetry and further observation of the patient is carried out by a neurologist or surgeon. If the development of disproportion occurs against the background of neuritis, a comprehensive examination is carried out. A clinically significant indicator is the electrical activity of muscle tissue. Based on the diagnostic results, massage and myostimulation are prescribed.

The choice of medications directly depends on what pathology caused the development of the disease. However, in all cases, treatment is supplemented with physiotherapy.

Surgical intervention

Plastic surgery is indicated for patients with severe facial asymmetry. Currently, there are many techniques with which it is possible to permanently rid the patient of imbalance.

These include:

  1. Blepharoplasty. During the operation, excess skin and fatty tissue are removed. As a result, the patient's eyelid shape and eye shape change.
  2. Lipofilling. The essence of the method is to transplant adipose tissue taken from the patient from another part of the body to the affected areas. With the help of lipofilling it is possible to correct the shape of the chin, cheekbones and lips.
  3. Lifting. In other words, it's a facelift. As a result, the degree of disproportion decreases or the asymmetry disappears completely.
  4. Rhinoplasty. This term refers to the correction of the shape of the nose and its position.

The choice of technique is made by the doctor. The specialist takes into account the severity of the disease, medical history and the results of a comprehensive examination.

uprazhneniya-dlya-jwhjt.webp

Finally

There is not a single person with a perfectly symmetrical face. If the disproportion is minor, it does not require correction. In case of severe pathology, you should consult a doctor. Depending on the causes, facial asymmetry is treated by a neurologist or surgeon. The specialist will conduct diagnostic measures and, based on their results, will create the most effective treatment regimen. He may also recommend contacting a cosmetologist or plastic surgeon.
