What you need to know about moisturizing your facial skin

Without exaggeration, water determines and regulates all body functions. And it is almost primarily responsible for the health and beauty of the skin. If there is little moisture, the production of collagen and elastin immediately decreases, and elasticity decreases sharply. The skin becomes defenseless against aggressive environmental factors, and the aging process is activated.

The skin reacts to a lack of moisture depending on its type.

Dry - tightness, flaking.

Oily - irritation and rashes, since dehydration increases the production of sebum and the pores often become clogged, provoking inflammatory processes.

Combined - shine in the T-zone and peeling in the U-zone (we talk about this area of the face here).

Normal - loss of healthy color and smoothness, feeling of discomfort and tightness.

How to moisturize your facial skin

Moisturizing masks and serums are useful for any skin. But the cream must strictly correspond to your skin type.

For dry skin, it is worth combining hydration with nutrition - this is a smart solution for a lack of natural lipids. And here emulsions with natural oils, ceramides, and squalane work well.

Oily skin will benefit from intensely moisturizing gels and fluids with a mattifying effect (especially in summer), which regulate sebum production. It is important that the formulas are non-comedogenic and do not contain mineral oils.

Combination skin needs light textures, and for the T-zone it is worth additionally choosing a mattifying fluid.

How to properly apply cream to your face? Try to stick to the diagram presented below.

Composition of moisturizing cosmetics

Moisturizers necessarily contain two types of ingredients:

attracting and retaining moisture (hyaluronic acid, aloe vera extract, glycerin, L-carrageenan);

moisture-locking (squalane, natural oils), forming an occlusive film on the surface of the skin, preventing water from evaporating.

Our skin is a unique organ that protects a person from external influences. And this organ, like no other, needs daily hydration. Water is one of the main components of human life. In addition to the normal functioning of the body, water also ensures the maintenance of youth and beauty. With sufficient moisture in the cells, elasticity and complexion improve and even fine wrinkles are reduced. The issue of hydration can be relevant for people of any age and gender.

Loss of moisture in the skin leads to flaking and premature aging. Dehydrated skin looks dull, has a grayish color and a flabby structure. Even after washing, complaints of tightness and flaking appear. If such signs appear, it’s time to start moisturizing.

Causes of insufficient skin hydration

There are many reasons for lack of moisture. The main ones are:

  1. improper care, frequent use of scrubs or lotions containing alcohol;
  2. improper drinking regime;
  3. dry indoor air;
  4. influence of external factors: sun, wind, frost;
  5. eating disorder;
  6. alcohol abuse, smoking;
  7. washing with hot water;
  8. the use of certain types of medications, especially diuretics;
  9. stress;
  10. age-related changes.

Ways to stay hydrated

There are two main ways to moisturize the skin and give it a radiant state: internal and external hydration.

Internal humidification

Internal humidification is based on the following principles:

  1. Proper nutrition. The skin is a reflection of a person's internal organs, especially the functioning of the liver and digestive system. Therefore, it is important to minimize the consumption of pickled and smoked foods, sausages, chips and other unhealthy foods, as well as sweets. It is recommended to introduce more vegetables, grains, and fruits into the diet. It is also useful to eat some fermented milk products every day. If you follow a proper diet, you need to monitor the intake of nutrients and microelements into the body. Zinc, selenium, vitamins A, B, E are of particular importance for the skin.
  2. Drinking regime. Insufficient water consumption is a direct cause of dehydration not only of the skin, but also of the entire body. An adult needs to drink about 2 liters of water per day. This amount should be increased during physical activity or during the hot season. With insufficient water intake in the body, the activity of many enzymes decreases, which leads to incomplete excretion of metabolic products and a decrease in tissue tone.
  3. Minimizing the impact of external factors. In summer it is necessary to protect your face from the sun. When exposed to the sun for a long time, the skin becomes dry. You should always use special cosmetics and, if possible, hide your face from direct sunlight. In winter, you need to try to protect your skin from wind and frost using special creams for this time of year. Indoor air humidity should be 40−70%. You need to wash your face with lukewarm water, or preferably cold.

External humidification

Using facial cosmetics - an effective way to moisturize the skin. Moisturizing facial cosmetics work according to 2 principles. The first group includes those products that create a film on the surface of the skin, which prevents moisture from evaporating. Creams from this group contain fats, waxes, glycerin, and dimethicone. Experts believe that such products are suitable for any skin type.

The second group consists of substances related to our epidermis; they provide a natural level of hydration through replacement therapy. These include:

  1. Hyaluronic acid is an indispensable remedy for water balance. It has the property of binding water molecules and holding them in deep layers, which promotes cell regeneration.
  2. Chitosan is extracted from the chitinous shell of crustaceans. In its effect it is similar to hyaluronic acid, but with a less pronounced effect.
  3. Silk and milk proteins. They convert water into a gel, which allows you to retain moisture for a longer period of time.
  4. Amino acids and polysaccharides, they retain moisture in the upper layer of the skin for a long period.
  5. Provitamin B5 saturates both deep and superficial layers with moisture.

Natural moisturizers

Many facial moisturizers contain botanicals. They not only help maintain the skin's moisture balance, but also saturate it with nutrients, vitamins and microelements. The most common are the following:

  1. Olive oil. This is the most common humidifier. It contains a lot of vitamin E, which helps restore collagen. It also contains linoleic acid, which creates a barrier and better retains moisture.
  2. Cacao butter. It prevents flaking and keeps the skin hydrated for a long period of time. Saturated fats are quickly absorbed and repair damaged skin. This oil contains a large amount of antioxidants that neutralize UV rays.
  3. Coconut oil. In addition to moisturizing, it supplies the dermis with all the necessary substances. The oil is not too greasy, so it is suitable for any type. The acids contained in this oil retain moisture and elasticity.
  4. Shea Butter. Contains vitamins A and E, fatty acids and other substances that can moisturize the skin for a long time. In addition, it can restore damaged skin.
  5. Honey. In addition to moisturizing, this product also softens the skin, penetrating deeply into it.
  6. Banana. It contains both vitamins and substances that can fight age-related changes.
  7. Cream. Suitable for nourishing and moisturizing any skin. After use, it becomes smoother and healthier. They also help get rid of dead cells.
  8. Avocado. Softens and restores natural moisture. It contains vitamins that enhance the skin's protective properties and help it fight free radicals.
  9. Aloe vera. This plant is simply a storehouse of nutrients and vitamins. It helps moisturize the skin, eliminating flaking.
  10. Grape seed oil. Provides deep hydration. In addition, this oil has an antibacterial and sebum-regulating effect, narrows enlarged pores, and strengthens capillaries.

Salon treatments

In particularly advanced cases, or if home remedies do not help, you can resort to salon procedures for so-called deep moisturizing. The most effective and popular are the following.

Glycolic peeling

This is a superficial chemical peeling with substances based on glycolic acid. Effective for any skin and has no age restrictions. Glycolic acid has a small molecular weight and easily penetrates the skin. In addition to the fact that it deeply moisturizes, it has an antioxidant effect, promotes the production of collagen and elastin.

Biorevitalization with hyaluronic acid

This is a type of mesotherapy that uses high concentration hyaluronic acid. When administered, blood circulation is activated, which causes collagen to be produced. This injection method allows penetrate hyaluronic acid to that depth¸ where its action will have the most beneficial effect.

Aqua peeling

Hydration occurs by introducing fluid under pressure into the top layer of the skin. The procedure cleanses and moisturizes the skin well. The liquid remains in the upper layer in the amount necessary for moisturizing.

All these procedures significantly moisturize the skin, which is difficult to achieve at home. Of course, they need to be carried out in proven and well-established salons with experienced professionals.

An innovative development for skin beauty is an ultrasonic skin moisturizer. This device replaces salon procedures. Special membranes convert liquid (water with the addition of hyaluronic acid, serums, and other nutrients) into steam from microparticles. They freely penetrate into the deep layers, unlike conventional cosmetics. Many companies provide a large selection of devices that can be used anywhere at any time.

Home Remedies for Moisturizing

There are many ways to maintain normal skin moisture balance at home.

The main rule is thatthat before moisturizing, the skin must be thoroughly cleansed. Use a mild cleanser daily. Once a week you can apply a scrub to your skin. Once dead cells are removed, moisturizers will be better absorbed.

For a quick effect, you can use steam baths based on herbs: chamomile, mint, St. John's wort, yarrow. These herbs can be used to make lotions. 1 tbsp. l. herbs pour 1 tbsp. boiling water, leave for 30 minutes, strain. Wipe your face with the cooled infusion up to 3 times a day.

Thermal water gives an excellent effect. You can spray your face several times a day.

Essential oils do a very good job of moisturizing. You can perform aromatherapy, or you can add a few drops to the cream. The most suitable are: wheat germ, grape seed, peach or tea tree oil. They can also be used for oil irrigation.

Mask recipes for different skin types

But the most effective means of moisturizing the skin at home are masks. They need to be done regularly, especially in the autumn-winter period. For normal skin, 2-3 procedures per week are enough; if the skin is dry, then masks can be done every other day. Course 2-3 months. Using masks improves microcirculation in cells, restores water balance, smoothes out fine wrinkles and slows down the appearance of new ones. Apply the mask to thoroughly cleansed skin for 20-30 minutes, and preferably rinse off with mineral water.

  7. melt a bar of dark chocolate, add low-fat cream until a thick consistency is formed, apply warm;
  8. 1 tbsp. l. mix potato starch with 1 tbsp. l. cucumber and lemon juice.

Masks for normal skin:

  1. soak white bread crumbs in milk;
  2. grate the apple, add 1 tsp. honey and 1 tbsp. l. chopped oatmeal;
  3. Grind a ripe banana, add 2 tbsp. l. cream;
  4. Mix 50 ml of yogurt with 1 tbsp. l. lemon juice and 10 ml avocado oil;
  5. Mix chopped apricot pulp with 1 tbsp. l. cottage cheese or sour cream.

You need to take a comprehensive approach to moisturizing your skin; all products are good here. But if home treatments do not produce a noticeable effect within 3-4 weeks, then you need to contact a professional cosmetologist. Salon treatments may be required. But the main thing is regularity and correctly selected means. Then the skin will look well-groomed and healthy at any time of the year.

How to moisturize your facial skin, because water is the main component of a living organism. The skin is mostly made up of water. It is a protective shell, which is primarily affected by all external influences. It has the ability to heal itself, but this ability is gradually decreasing, it lacks nutrition and oxygen, and our skin needs help.

Elastic, smooth skin for a long time is the dream and desire of many. This is what we need to strive for. If the skin begins to peel and a feeling of tightness appears, this means that it does not have enough oxygen, even if you constantly use the cream. You need to change your habits. It is possible that something will have to change.

Changes to maintain moisture in the skin

Moisture and oxygen are the main things the skin lacks as it ages. The appearance of wrinkles and sagging largely depends on this. You need to stick to the rules.

They will help change your skin for the better, filling it with strength and beauty:

  1. Pay attention to your cosmetics, which can dry out your skin. If possible, its use should be reduced;
  2. Take a close look at your creams, tonics, masks, gels. They do not always match your skin type. It is advisable to change them periodically and select them in accordance with weather conditions. In winter, conditions outside are not the best, and conditions indoors in a radiator are not the best. In summer, heat and dry air also dry out the skin very much;
  3. It is necessary to use scrubs less often. It is better to replace them with nourishing masks;
  4. Skin needs water! Try to increase your consumption of pure water without various additives. To do this, you need to consume it warm;
  5. Do not rub your skin too hard after washing. It is much healthier to lightly blot it and apply a high-quality moisturizer. You can replace water with special cosmetic milk;
  6. You should always remove your makeup at night. The skin needs air and rest. This is done using tonic or cosmetic milk;
  7. No need to use hot water. High temperatures dry out very much, but essential oils help saturate cells with oxygen;
  8. Masks are very beneficial for the skin. Cosmetologists recommend applying them every 2-3 days. If possible, they should be combined or not used for too long. Accustoming occurs and effectiveness decreases;
  9. Frequent exposure to ultraviolet rays is unacceptable. They accelerate skin aging and provoke serious diseases;
  10. Fresh air is very beneficial. Therefore, it is necessary to increase walks and trips into nature;
  11. Various types of massages are useful.

It can be very difficult to change your habits and lifestyle. But health and beauty are worth the little effort that needs to be made to definitely understand how to moisturize your facial skin.

How to moisturize your facial skin?

The face is the first thing in a person that everyone always pays attention to. But it is also more exposed to environmental influences. It requires special and constant care. Various means are used for this.

Cosmetic industry products for filling the skin with moisture
All cosmetic companies pay great attention to facial skin nourishing products. These are day and night creams, tonics, lotions, serums, gels and masks. They differ in composition, age, frequency of use, price and other criteria. All creams are applied to a previously well-cleansed face. You need to let them absorb well.

The industry pays special attention to nourishing masks based on clay, fruits, hyaluronic acid, glycerin, herbal extracts, liposomes, vitamins and various extracts. The range of components is huge. You need to try and select, listen to the advice of cosmetologists and reviews of other people. But the greater effect comes from the integrated use of products from one series. You can always choose something specific that suits your skin type.

Homemade Moisturizers

Home-made cell hydration and nutrition products are an inexpensive and always freshly prepared alternative to industrial ones. Their effectiveness has long been known. Some of them are inherited, many are exchanged with friends or invented by themselves, selecting and changing components.

They make a lot of products at home: tonics, masks, scrubs, lotions, decoctions. They are very useful if suddenly the question arises of how to quickly moisturize your facial skin.

The simplest remedy is ice cubes. They effectively tighten the oval of the face. You can use them every morning and evening. They are easy to prepare: pour mineral water, or a decoction of herbs, or fruit juice (from carrots, apples, watermelon, tomatoes, etc.) into a mold and freeze. All these components can be combined. It's quick to do and the results are amazing.
Tonics, compresses, tinctures and decoctions are obtained by brewing herbs, wheat grains and oats. They can be poured with boiling water or brewed for several minutes. Then the broth is filtered and used. You can add honey, butter, oatmeal, oil vitamins and fish oil to them. It doesn’t take much time, but when applied daily to the face, the cells are saturated with moisture and microelements, the skin is moisturized, and wrinkles are smoothed out.

A little about masks

If women are interested in how to moisturize dry skin, then masks are better suited. They serve as oxygen carriers. Their “creation” does not take much time, and the freshness of the freshly prepared product has a positive effect on the skin. All masks are kept on the face for 30 to 40 minutes. You need to rinse off with warm water, but preferably with a herbal decoction. It is advisable to alternate them.

  1. Apple mask. Peel and grate a medium apple, add 1 tbsp. a spoonful of olive oil and sour cream. You can add 1-2 drops of lemon;
  2. Kefir mask. Take 50 ml of kefir and 1 yolk, add oily vitamin E (available in pharmacies). Mix thoroughly and apply to face. If there is no allergy, you can add 0.5 teaspoons of honey;
  3. Herbal. Take 1 tsp. dried herbs: hops, yarrow, chamomile and St. John's wort. Pour boiling water over and leave. Then strain and add 1 tsp to the cooled infusion. honey and lemon juice (it can be replaced with orange juice) and 1-2 yolks. Everything gets mixed up. This mask can be used every other day;
  4. Cucumber mask. Grate the cucumber on a fine grater and then rub the pulp through a sieve. Cucumber water can be used as a lotion or frozen. And it’s not difficult to make masks using it. Moreover, it combines well with many components. You can add honey, yolk, kefir, sour cream, olive oil, and fish oil individually or in combination.

All these products work well, they nourish and moisturize the face. But they need to be used wisely and alternated with anti-aging ones. In addition, lifestyle has a huge impact. With constant fatigue and lack of sleep, the body loses the ability to sufficiently produce the required number of young epidermal cells. It's important to eat right. After all, all minerals and vitamins help maintain normal water balance.

Moisturize your skin in winter

The cold season is a serious test for facial skin, especially if it is prone to dryness. Under the influence of low temperatures, capillaries narrow and blood circulation is disrupted. In addition, cold air and gusty winds cause dryness and redness of the skin. The skin also suffers from the fact that we spend a lot of time in a room where heating devices are running, which means the air in the room is dry. Proper care will help get rid of discomfort, a feeling of tightness, and make the tone even and beautiful. Therefore, in winter, the skin needs additional care and hydration. How to ensure maximum comfort for her?

To cleanse and remove makeup, use only cosmetic cream and milk.

  1. You can forget about tonics and lotions until spring.
  2. Do not use gels that contain alcohol.
  3. Don't forget to apply protective cream to your face when going outside.
  4. The foundation is applied to the oily cream. If some of it is not absorbed and interferes with further makeup, remove the excess with paper napkins.

When you return home from a walk, your skin also needs to be taken care of. Chamomile infusion soothes and moisturizes the skin.

  1. First, the skin needs to be cleansed; for this, use any soft scrub.
  2. After this, gauze or a napkin soaked in the broth is applied to the face and held until the fabric cools down.
  3. If you cannot get rid of the unpleasant sensations, then the procedure needs to be repeated.
  4. Apply any moisturizer.

When we say “any” cream, we are being a little disingenuous. The cream should be selected according to age.

Skin hydration after 30 years

If you focus all your efforts on just moisturizing your skin, you will have to wait a very long time for results. In addition to hydration, the skin needs protection and restoration. Another important rule is that care should be daily; take 15 minutes from your busy schedule in the morning and the same in the evening, and the result will not take long to arrive.

For those over thirty, the first wrinkles already appear, most often in the corners of the eyes. Therefore, the skin in these places needs additional nutrition, otherwise age-related changes, alas, will not be in your favor. Chamomile cream does the job well; making it at home is not difficult.

Pour one teaspoon of chamomile with a glass of boiling water, let it brew for 10 minutes. Then strain, add 1 tbsp butter and 1 tsp castor oil, mix everything. The cream is applied an hour before going to bed.
An avocado mask moisturizes the skin well. The paste from the pulp is applied to the face and left for half an hour, after which it is washed off with warm water. Enzymes and oils will fill the skin with moisture and restore its radiance. When applying the cream, do not forget to lightly massage your face with your fingers, this will promote blood circulation, your face will look fresh and young. But this will not be enough for the skin to look healthy; it is recommended not to neglect a healthy lifestyle, and to walk in the fresh air more often.

Moisturizing and caring for facial skin after 40 years

At this age, many people notice the appearance of sagging; the skin in the corners of the lips begins to sag. A simple procedure will moisturize the skin and restore its healthy appearance. Every morning, take an ice cube and wipe your face with it, you will be satisfied with the result. It can be not only frozen water, but also a decoction of chamomile, thyme and sage, the skin will look healthy, young and elastic. Film masks for dry skin are not the best choice. But egg nourishing masks will come in handy.
The procedures should be completed with a light massage; if you have a special brush, use it. Physical activity and morning exercises play an important role for beautiful facial skin.

Moisturizing and skin care after 50 years

Unfortunately, the years cannot be turned back, and after 50, every woman notices that the skin on her face changes, and sometimes does not look the best. You should forget about alcohol-containing lotions and rough cosmetics. Masks made from avocado or peach will moisturize well and provide the skin with the necessary vitamins, minerals and microelements.
