Anserine

Anserine (synonyms: anserine, methylcarnosine) is an organic compound derived from carnosine. It is beta-alanyl-N-methyl-L-histidine.

Anserine is a natural metabolite in humans and animals. Contained in high concentrations in muscles and nervous tissue.

It has antioxidant and buffering properties and is involved in the regulation of muscle contraction. It has been shown that anserine can prevent oxidative stress in cells and tissues.

The potential use of anserine as an anti-inflammatory, antitumor and neuroprotective agent is being studied. Clinical studies are underway on the effectiveness and safety of anserine in the treatment of neurological, cardiovascular and other diseases.
