Epithelial tissues are numerous and represent the boundary layers between the external environment of the body and the internal environment. They are the first line of defense and prevent bacteria, viruses and other microorganisms from entering the body. The most common epithelial tissue is stratified squamous epithelium, which covers the surface of the body. However, there are other types of epithelial tissues, such as single-layer epithelial tissues, which occupy less surface area but play important roles in various body functions.
Unistratified epithelium (E. unistratifical is) is a special type of epithelial layer that consists of a single layer of cells. Such tissues can be observed mainly in the gastrointestinal tract and respiratory system, as well as in the skin and mucous membranes
