Carious Cavity

A carious, or carious-ulcerative cavity is an inflammatory lesion of tooth tissue, characterized by damage to both enamel and dentin. The wall of the dental unit in the pulp area is affected by caries, along with changes in the dentin layer. There are acute and chronic forms of carious lesions. There are limited and total forms of caries. The latter is diagnosed if all teeth in the oral cavity are affected.
