Melting the Five Elements (Part 6) - Relationship of Senses and Organs

Establishing the relationship between the senses and the internal organs is one of my favorite activities in the practice of “melting the five elements.” As before, we will review the material covered last week and take one more step forward. This step relates to information you already know. Before directing energy to the “gathering point,” we will learn to establish a connection between external and internal organs. You basically know how to do this from the “third treasure” practice you learned during the first five weeks.

Each of the five main internal organs corresponds to a specific external organ. Thus, the kidneys correspond to the ears, the heart to the tongue, the liver to the eyes, the lungs to the nose, and the liver to the mouth (lips).

The point of the action is to mentally connect the external sense organ with the internal organ. Taoists say that when the ears can return to the kidneys, they feel at home. To implement your plan, listen to your kidneys and, feeling the connection with your ears, drain the resulting energy into the “collection point” of the kidneys, located in the perineum.
Mentally connect the heart with the tongue, and the tongue will calm down and feel at home. Your ability to verbally express thoughts will improve significantly. You can learn to control your tongue by harmonizing the energy of your heart. This will make your speech expressive and persuasive. It will delight the ears of other people and not irritate them. As soon as you feel the connection between the tongue and the heart (it may feel as if the organs are connected to each other by numerous invisible threads), direct the emerging energy to the heart “gathering point”.

The next stage is to extract water energy from the “gathering point” of the kidneys and fiery energy from the “gathering point” of the heart and direct the energy flow to the front “bagua”.

The liver is connected to the eyes. Mentally send your eyes to the liver and they will calm down and feel at home. The liver is the repository of the wood element corresponding to spring. This means that in the spring the liver and eyes will be weakened. A similar pattern applies to other organs. During a certain season they are in a weakened state. Therefore, in unfavorable times of the year, the organs need to be strengthened with the help of exercises such as “healing sounds”, “inner smile”, “hair breathing”, “melting the five elements”.

Once you feel the connection between the eyes and the liver, direct the resulting energy to the liver collection point, located to the right of the front bagua.

The nose feels comfortable in the lungs. When you feel this connection, direct the metal energy to the collection point of the lungs, located to the left of the front bagua. Remember that you are channeling real energy, not just imaginary energy.
In the next stage, the energy of the metal and wood is directed from the corresponding “gathering points” to the front “bagua”. Here energy flows are mixed and harmonized with the energy of fire and water.

Send your mouth to the spleen and your lips will feel cozy and at home. In the West, there is a slightly different idea of the functional purpose of the spleen. Taoists believe that it is responsible for the body’s resistance to diseases,
provides good appetite and auric security. The earth element strengthens and nourishes all other elements. This is why the front "bagua" is the "gathering point" of the earth element. All elements feel at home in this center.

Once you feel the connection between the mouth and the spleen, bring the earth energy into the front bagua and mix the energy of all five elements.

1. Sit on a chair, place your hands together and press the tip of your tongue to the upper palate. Imagine that your body is surrounded by a rainbow aura of the five elements. Start with red. Then imagine the colors yellow, white, blue and green in sequence.
2. Smile with your eyes (you can perform the “inner smile” exercise along the front, middle and back lines).
3. Form the front “bagua” (or “star in a circle”).
4. Listen to your kidneys. Feel the connection between your ears and kidneys.
5. Visualize your kidneys bathing in sky blue (or brilliant black) and direct the water energy of the kidneys to the “gathering point” located in the perineum.
6. Feel the connection between your tongue and your heart.
7. Imagine that your heart is bathed in red. Direct the fiery energy to the heart “gathering point” located in the center of the chest.
8. Simultaneously direct spiral energy from the collection points of the kidneys and heart into the front bagua and mix the two energy flows.
9. Look at the liver with your inner gaze, feel the connection of this organ with the eyes.
10. Imagine your liver bathing in emerald green. Direct the energy of the tree to the “gathering point” located to the right of the front “bagua” (“star”).
11. Feel the connection between your nose and lungs.
12. Visualize your lungs bathing in silvery white and direct the metal energy to the lungs' collection point, located to the left of the front bagua (star).
13. Simultaneously direct spiral energy from the collection points of the lungs and liver to the front bagua (star). Mix energy flows with the energy of fire and water.
14. Feel the connection between the lips and the spleen.
15. Imagine the spleen bathed in golden yellow. Direct the earth's energy into the front bagua (star) and mix it with the energy of the four elements.
16. Form the back “bagua” (“star”).
17. Drain the energy alloy of the five elements from the front “bagua” (“star”) into the “cauldron” of the lower tan tien. At the same time, pour the spiral energy from the back “bagua” (“star”) into the “cauldron”.
18. Create a left and right bagua and drain the spiral energy into the cauldron.
19. Create an upper and lower bagua and drain the spiral energy into the cauldron.
20. Concentrate and create an energy “pearl” in the “cauldron”.
21. Send the “pearl” on a journey through the “microcosmic orbit”. Let him make a few turns. Helping its movement, accompany the “pearl” by “rotating” your eyes.
22. Return the “pearl” to the “cauldron” and accumulate energy in the navel area.
