Extracurricular work can lead to excess weight

Scientists have said that women who stay at work until late are prone to gaining excess weight.

Nicole Au, an employee of the Australian Center for Health Economics at Monash University, believes that this phenomenon is associated with the unhealthy lifestyle that women lead. In her opinion, women who are late at work do not have enough time to prepare healthy food and exercise.

The study found that women who work more than 48 hours a week smoke more often than others, and also drink excessively and do not exercise. Several thousand women with completely different types of activities took part in the study. At the same time, more than half of the experiment participants gained weight and only about a third lost weight.

Dr Au noted that the weight gain effect was particularly noticeable among women working long hours, who gained 12% more weight.
