In general, the use of idiomatic expressions in speech helps to make it more emotional and expressive. However, it must be remembered that not all expressions are suitable for all situations and can have different meanings depending on the context.
The history of the word “Idiom” has not been fully studied, but also has no boundaries, since words and phrases united by the term are found in absolutely any language, not only Russian, English or French, but in many world languages. The accumulated information that is currently in dictionaries and reference books allows us to take a fresh look at the term, resort to analysis, or give it a historical, cognitive or cultural interpretation. It should be remembered that this is not a textbook, so it is impossible to include all significant issues in one very voluminous article. Therefore, we will divide it into several subsections.
