Sialoglycolipids

Sialoglycolipids are complex lipid molecules found in biological cell membranes that perform a number of important functions in the human body. They play an important role in regulating intercellular communication processes, transmitting signals within cells and maintaining the stability of biological membranes.

Sialoglycolipids are products of the acyl group of carbohydrates - galactose or fucose. The covalent bond between the ulgarose molecule and the lipolipid part of the molecule is provided by glycosyltransfer, catalyzed by specific enzymes. The sialogolicolidleys include glycosphingolipids, gangliosides and gangliopuroans.
