Germ Layer

The germ layer is a small plate of the embryonic cell of a multicellular organism, which develops into an independent organ and performs many functions. During development, the embryo through a series of stages turns into a full-fledged organism. Each more complex organism contains from one to several germ layers. The word "embryo" is etymologically related to the word "development".

There are two types of germ layers: ectodermal and endodermal. These names come from the Latin word entis, which means internal, and the Greek word deresis, which means hard, hard.

The ectoderm is the outer germinal layer that is the most developed and complex. It covers the outer walls of the animal's body and includes the skin, hair, nails and other structures. Ecto
