Tooth caries

Dental caries is a dental disease that is characterized by the progressive destruction of tooth tissue. It is caused by plaque bacteria that convert sugars and starches in food into acids. When these acids penetrate the tooth enamel, it becomes more porous and less hard. This leaves the tooth vulnerable to decay.

Caries may be asymptomatic in the initial stages, but over time, symptoms such as tooth sensitivity to sour, hot and cold foods and drinks appear. In the future, this leads to the formation of caries and loss of healthy tooth tissue.

One of the main causes of caries is poor nutrition. Sweets and fast carbohydrates should be limited, and instead, foods high in fiber and protein should be consumed. It is also important to visit your dentist regularly for checkups and professional cleanings.
