Protanomaly is often called Delamote-Bilvdann disease. It is considered to be hereditary partial color blindness and is associated with a disorder of the cone system of the eye. In most cases, people with this vision defect have a symmetrical lesion, in which there is a clear difference in the color range, but it is difficult to distinguish the main color tones from each other. When described, the defect can be described as a variable threshold response to shades of color from blue to violet and green. For such people, colors such as orange or yellow, reds and reds, browns and whites do not pose any difficulties. With protanopia, the main difference from other types of color blindness is the mixing of red shades, which for people with normal vision are different colors. Some people have a lower pain threshold than others, and for them there are about three shades of red available, while for those with normal color vision, all shades are available. Thus, color blindness of this type is considered functional. Those affected can include both men and women, with girls being affected much more often. Protanic diagnosis is quite common - more than 8% of the total population of the globe.
The development of protanic color disorder always accompanies the years and has a variable character. This disease is transmitted either to the patient’s parents or manifests itself in all relatives. Each organism reacts to the penetration of a gene defect in its own way. For example, some representatives enter a more mature age with an almost complete lack of ability to distinguish colors; in others, the appearance of the disorder may be noted after five years. The cumulative effect contributes to its progression until the ability to distinguish colors is completely disabled.
