When distilling essential oil plants with water steam, a small part of the essential oil dissolves in water and settles. For example, the concentration of rose essential oil in the distillate reaches 2.3% due to the high content of highly soluble phenylethyl alcohol in the oil. This fragrant water is widely used for medicinal purposes (eye diseases, female genital organs), as well as for the manufacture of perfumes and cosmetics. Aromatic water can be purchased at a pharmacy or prepared at home.
1st method. Pour water into the steamer (no more than 1-1.25 liters) and place the desired plant on the grill. As soon as the water boils, remove the steamer from the heat. Do not remove the lid until the water has completely cooled. Store the resulting aromatic water in a glass container in the refrigerator for no more than 2 weeks.
To obtain fragrant water, first grind the plants you use.
Rose water - 1.5-2 cups of rose petals.
Lavender water - 9-12 flowering branches.
Orange water - peel of 1 large orange.
Rosemary water - 10 flowering sprigs.
2nd method. Add essential oil to a glass bottle and shake well. There should be no more than 10 drops of essential oil per 200 g of water. Be sure to shake the composition before use.
3rd method. Mix 500 ml of water, 1 teaspoon of alcohol and 2-5 drops of essential oil. Shake well.
