The ambulance service is a well-functioning system that covers the entire country and is designed to provide immediate assistance to victims of an accident or sudden attack of disease and then transport them to hospital. The service consists of different parts connected to each other like a chain (Figure 2-1). You are the first link in this chain when you dial the number “03”. The dispatcher who receives your call acts as a second link. Ambulance service employees - doctors, paramedics arriving at the scene - the third link. The hospital's emergency department serves as the fourth link. Remember that the system starts working thanks to your call. The level of training of emergency personnel may vary slightly in different areas. But the general system and principles of calling an ambulance are the same throughout Ukraine.
