Watching TV takes up five years of your life

Time spent in front of a blue screen takes almost five years of a person’s life. Australian scientists came to this conclusion after analyzing a table compiled based on data from the National Bureau of Statistics and Information.

Every hour spent in front of a screen takes away 22 minutes of a person’s life. Moreover, this figure is relevant for people over 25 years old. According to scientists from Australia, a person spends about six hours a day in front of a television screen. As a result of the calculations, it was concluded that TV, on average, reduces life expectancy by 4.8 years.

For the study, a control group of people who did not watch TV at all was compiled. The results of the experiment showed that daily television viewing produces an effect on the body similar to that of bad habits such as smoking, a passive lifestyle and overeating. By the way, TV provokes obesity due to low activity and eating snacks in front of the screen.

In their previous studies on the effects of television on humans, scientists from Australia concluded that watching television for four hours a day is an impetus for the development of type 2 diabetes, which is associated with obesity. A study claims that a sedentary lifestyle and excessive viewing of programs leads to the development of metabolic syndrome associated with an unhealthy lifestyle. However, the situation can be corrected by doing physical exercises while watching TV.
