Ersatz-Products

Ersatz products

Ersatz products (from the German ersatz - substitute) are food products that are used as substitutes for natural products.

Ersatz products include:

  1. Margarines and spreads are substitutes for butter. They are made from vegetable oils with the addition of emulsifiers.

  2. Synthetic sweeteners are sugar substitutes. For example, saccharin, aspartame, sucralose. The sweetening effect is hundreds and thousands of times higher than that of sugar.

  3. Surrogate coffee is a substitute for natural coffee. Made from chicory, rye cereals, soybeans and other plant materials.

  4. Artificial flavors - used to replace natural food flavors.

  5. Soy products - soy sausages, sausages, cutlets, etc. - meat substitutes for vegetarians and vegans.

Ersatz products are often cheaper and more accessible than natural ones. However, their nutritional value and taste are usually lower. Many ersatz products contain artificial additives that can cause allergies and other health problems. Therefore, the use of ersatz products requires caution and moderation.
