Feelings of Hunger and Satiety

The feeling of hunger is regulated by the brain through the hunger center and the satiety center: when the hunger center is irritated, appetite appears, and when irritation reaches the satiety center, the desire to eat decreases. This information entering the brain comes mainly from the stomach. When the stomach does not receive food for a long time, it lets you know by contracting the muscles that form its walls. Conversely, when the stomach is full, it tells the satiety center to moderate appetite. Sense organs such as sight, smell or taste also inform the regulatory centers to stimulate the secretion of digestive juices.
