Alimentary steatorrhea (synonym: alimentary pancreatic steatosis, atheromatous pancreas) is a morphological phenomenon that is most common in chronic pancreatitis. This is a morphological symptom of a violation of pancreatic secretion and, in particular, its digestive ability. The term “nutritional” was introduced to indicate the mechanical nature of the disorder, since the occurrence and development of steatosis or atheroma of the pancreas is associated with nutritional factors.
