How to do a facial massage correctly

- from the nasolabial fold to the temples;
- from the corner of the lips to the middle of the ear;
- from the middle of the lower edge of the lips to the lobe;
- from the bottom of the chin to the earlobe.

There are many different massagers on the beauty market: from mechanical rollers to electric ones with a vibration effect, equipped with ultrasound or infrared radiation. The following rules apply to the use of all types of massagers:
- clean your face before the procedure;

- perform strictly along massage lines: from the center of the face to the periphery;
- duration from 15 minutes to half an hour, depending on the intensity of the impact: the lower the intensity, the longer the session;
- Once completed, apply a soothing cream and rest.
The most effective techniques
In modern cosmetology, there are a huge variety of types of massage techniques. They are all good and effective in their own way:
- Vacuum. It is considered very effective for eliminating swelling, scars and age spots, and improving blood circulation. There are two execution techniques: static and kinetic. In the first case, cups are placed on problem areas for a certain time, massage cream is not used. Kinetic technique is the movement of cups over skin lubricated with massage oil. Kinetic can be done at home, static is better in the salon.
- Pinch massage for Jacquet. The result in the form of smoothing out wrinkles is achieved using pinches of varying intensity. This is a complex technique, and doing it yourself can lead to the opposite result, so it’s better to do it in a salon.
- Sculpting or plasticizing is called non-surgical lifting. This technique requires knowledge of anatomy and should only be done by an experienced specialist.
- Kobido. It is 500 years old and has been passed down from generation to generation by selected masters. It is considered one of the most effective. The effect is not on muscles or skin, but on energy meridians and acupuncture points, harmonizing human Qi energy. Massage techniques are numerous and varied; needless to say, it should be done by a professional.
Cryomassage has a good effect in the fight against crow's feet. Using two ice cubes, make smoothing movements along the massage lines around the eyes. The massage for wrinkles around the eyes lasts no more than 5 minutes, it is carried out very carefully, without stopping at the points, so as not to overcool the thin skin of the eyelids. You can freeze herbal decoctions with a few drops of essential oils.
This type of rubbing will allow you to remove not only wrinkles and crow's feet, but also overhanging eyebrows and bags under the eyes. Do it for 7-10 sessions with breaks, 5 times, unless otherwise stated:
- Place your fingers on your temples. Do 10 circles clockwise.
- Using gentle pressure, move your fingers from the temple to the nose along the bone below, reach the inner corner of the eye, then to the area under the eyebrow and back.
- Lightly press first the lower, then the upper eyelid with your fingertips.
- Walk over the area around the eyes with light tapping fingers - 10 circles.
- Place your finger with the edge on your temple so that the nail is directed towards the hair, turn your finger over to your nose. With these movements, make five approaches towards the nose along the bone under the eye. Do the same above the eye from the inner corner of the eye to the temple under the eyebrow.
- Lightly press the area near the outer corner of the eye 10 times, move along the cheekbone with rolling movements to the inner corner, make 10 pressures. Go back under the eyebrow in the same way.

- Repeat the previous technique with patting movements.
The simplest massage for facial wrinkles on the forehead can be done independently, during morning or evening care: apply the cream to the area being worked on, using circular movements of your fingers to easily rub it into the skin along the massage lines. Massage with cupronickel or silver spoons is very effective against longitudinal frontal wrinkles. Daily rejuvenating procedure:
- Make stroking movements from the center of the forehead to the temples 10 times.
- Index and middle fingers above the bridge of the nose, move in a circular motion to the temples 5 times.

Facial massage for wrinkles at home
Some types of massage can be done independently; each has its own specifics, which must be studied so as not to get the opposite effect in the form of stretched skin. Japanese and Chinese massages are based on knowledge of the location of biologically active points, while sculpting massages are based on a good knowledge of anatomy. Therefore, if you are not confident in your knowledge of a particular massage technique, it is better to trust a professional.
The easiest one to perform is classic self-massage. This is a good prevention of wrinkles; if you do it every day from the age of 25-30, their appearance will be postponed to a much later date:
- Smooth the skin of the forehead in a circular motion from the center to the temples;
- With three fingers of both hands, draw from the eyebrows to the hairline 3 times;
- place the fingers of one hand on the temple, the other hand moves from the temple along the forehead in the opposite direction with smoothing movements, repeat 10 times in both directions;
- rest your thumbs on your chin, place three fingers on the top of your cheekbone, stroke your cheekbone from your nose to your temples;
- stroke the skin from the center of the chin to the ears;
- Place your finger on the outer corner of the eye, alternating stroking with tapping, lightly massaging the eye area.
Asahi massage, or more correctly Tsogan, can be done at home by mastering the technique yourself. Patients loved it so much that the creator, Yunuko Takana, added new techniques to it, especially for different face types and different ages. You need to remember that after the first sessions, rashes may appear. This procedure is contraindicated for girls with a thin face; after it, it will lose even more weight.
Repeat Tsogan massage movements 3 times, unless otherwise indicated, performed with fingertips:
- Almost all massage movements end with stroking from the temple, along the edge of the face down to the chin and further to the collarbones.
- Fingers in the middle of the forehead, perpendicular to the eyebrows. Pressing on the skin, move your fingers to the temples, turn them down, gently move along the contour of the face to the collarbones;
- Using the pads of your middle fingers, gently move along the lower edge of the eyes to the inner corner, then increase the pressure and return along the upper edge to the temples. Repeat the movement to the inner edge, go back, finish with the final movement.
- Place your ring and middle fingers in the middle of the chin, move up to the corners of the lips, press lightly, then around the lips, stop above the upper lip, press again and return to the chin.
- Place your fingers at the wings of the nose, do circular rubbing down to the upper lip 5 times, then rub the bridge of the nose and smoothly move from the bridge of the nose to the temples to the final move along the eyebrow line.
- Pressing lightly, move your fingers from the chin to the corners of the lips, the wings of the nose, and the inner corner of the eye, as if describing the letter “O”, then along the cheekbone to the temple and finish with the final movement. At the inner corner of the eye, lightly press on the skin.
- One hand fixes the lower jaw, the other moves with effort from the lower jaw to the bridge of the nose along the cheek, moving along the lower edge of the eye to the temple and the final movement. At the inner corner of the eye, lightly press on the skin 3 times. Repeat the same on the other side.
- Palms lie horizontally on the cheeks, fingers at points on either side of the nose. With effort, move your fingers to your temples, moving on to the final movement.
- Palms on the oval of the face, touching at the chin. With force, move the heel of your palm upward under the eyes, increase the force and move your palms towards your ears, ending with a final movement.
- The bases of the palms are below the corners of the lips, forcefully move the palms towards the ears, press on the area under the cheekbone and smoothly go down with the final movement.
- Place your palms under your chin, pressing tightly. Grabbing the skin, move your palm to the middle of the ear, press again, and smoothly finish with the final movement. If you can’t do it with both hands, you can first do it one at a time.
- Fingers on the nose, thumbs on the chin. Using the edges of your palms, move forcefully along your cheeks to your ear, and proceed to the final movement.
- Make zigzag movements across the forehead with force.
- Fingers of both hands on the forehead, press for 3 counts, lightly move the fingers to the temples, final movement.
A deep anti-wrinkle facial massage will help keep your muscles toned. This technique relaxes emotional tensions and the habit of frowning goes away. There is a change in worldview in a positive direction. This is a very radical technique in terms of its effects and sensations; the patient may experience severe pain. It is recommended to scream and cry, because along with physiological relaxation, psychological relaxation also occurs. It needs to be done by an experienced specialist. It consists of three parts:
- deep study of the chest, as increased tone of the chest muscles is transmitted to the facial muscles and nerves;
- improvement of venous outflow using lymphatic drainage of the chest, facial area, head;
- deep effect on the bones of the skull, muscles and fascia.
This is a cleansing procedure with a lifting effect. For it you need to use natural, not candied honey, about 1 teaspoon:
- It is done on a dry face, no oil is used.
- Lightly heat the honey and spread it over your face, avoiding the lips and eyes.
- Press along the massage lines and then “unstick” the palms from the skin.
- Do it for 10-15 minutes.
- Rinse off the honey with warm water and apply moisturizer.
A relaxing facial massage before bed is very helpful. This is a cross between classical massage and gymnastics:
- Press your eyebrow while trying to move your eyebrows – 10 s.
- Place your palms on your forehead and press. Raise your eyebrows while holding your forehead skin with your hands for 10 s.
- Using tapping movements, move from the outer corner of the eye along the cheekbone to the inner corner and, vice versa, under the eyebrow - 5 times.
- Say the letter “O”, rounding your lips – 10 times, press your lips tightly to your teeth for 5 seconds, relax, repeat 5 times.
- Repeat the previous exercise, instead of the letter “O”, pronounce the letter “U”.
Shiatsu acupressure massage is very popular. It is recommended to perform it in the morning, then the body will receive a boost of energy for the whole day. It is carried out by pressing biologically active points with fingers or special balls, which are pressed against the skin and rotated clockwise. The finger is held perpendicular to the skin and pressure is applied to the point for about 7 seconds. Main massage points:
- For the eyes: outer and inner corner of the eye, three points at the beginning, middle and end of the eyebrow.
- For the forehead: three points located between the beginning of the eyebrow and the hairline on each side, pressing, work the entire forehead from the center to the temples.
- For lips: from the point under the lower lip, use pressing movements to move to the points in the corners of the lips. Place the middle finger at the point at the nasolabial fold, the index and ring fingers next to the upper lip, press 5-6 times.
- Cheeks: dots are located along the lower edge of the cheekbone. Press all six points simultaneously for 7 seconds.
- Oval face: place three fingers on both sides of the chin, press the jaw from below with your thumb, press on these points for 7 seconds. Gradually moving to the temples, work the entire lower jaw.
Contraindications
Despite all the effectiveness and versatility of facial massage for wrinkles, this procedure has contraindications. It cannot be done if the following problems exist:
- skin diseases of an infectious or allergic nature;
- presence of tumors;
- inflammation of the lymph nodes;
- decreased or increased intracranial pressure;
- poor blood clotting;
- increased fragility of blood vessels, rosacea;
- any inflammation on the face;
- moles on the face;
- diseases of the ENT organs;
- recent cosmetic procedures.

- Prepare the skin: remove makeup, collect hair in a bun;
- Wash the hands;
- Apply oil or cream;
- For manipulation, it is preferable to use your fingertips (unless the technique suggests otherwise);
- All movements should be soft and smooth;
- Be gentle in the eye area;
- Perform movements strictly according to the line diagram for facial massage;
- Start and end with stroking techniques.
At home, you can use almost all massage techniques, with the exception of those that use special tools: stones, vacuum and roller devices. But even they are freely available for purchase. The easiest to learn and perform are: honey massage, facial massage, spooning and pinch method. When used regularly, they provide an excellent rejuvenating and strengthening effect.
Facial massage is a delicate procedure. Because the skin on the face is highly sensitive. It is thinner than on other parts of the body. Therefore, when performing movements, it is necessary to use oil or facial massage cream. This will avoid redness and irritation, and will also prevent unnecessary stretching.
- Apply the oil to the skin with soft patting movements;
- From the wings of the nose to the ears, massage the cheeks with spiral movements;
- Using light patting touches, massage the eyelids from the outer edge to the inner along the lower edge and then from the inner edge to the outer along the upper eyelid;
- Using spiral movements, we relax the forehead in the direction from the eyebrows to the hair;
- Using rubbing movements, massage the contour of the lips and lower jaw.
Massage the nostril and the beginning of the nasolabial fold near the nose with two middle fingers of each hand, rotating each in its own direction like a figure eight.
Squeeze the side of the nose for 30 seconds alternately, then stretch it, thereby relaxing the muscle that lifts the skin, creating the nasolabial.

The skin in the eye area is delicate, thin and sensitive. It is almost devoid of fat and hydrolipid layers. Therefore, the first signs of aging appear here first. To reduce them, we perform a facial massage of this area:
- Close your eyes tightly for a few seconds;
- move the eyeball left and right without changing the position of the head;
- intensively rotate your eyes clockwise for about a minute, then in the opposite direction;
- draw a figure eight with your eyelids, move your eyes alternately in different directions: right, up, left, down, left, up, right, down;
- massage the outer and inner corners of the eyes with your fingertips, and then the points at the end and beginning of the eyebrow arch;
- massage the entire eyebrow with a strong pressing movement with the phalanx of the index finger from the inside out in one stroke;
- raise your eyebrows high, while trying to close your eyes.
When the muscle frame on the face loses its normal tone, the skin begins to fold and sag on the spasmed muscle. Visually, this leads to drooping and displacement of the oval of the face. To restore the firmness and elasticity of the contours, it is necessary to perform the following massage techniques to tighten the oval:
- Using the middle and index fingers, massage with smooth pressing movements from the nose to the temples (in Fig. 12, 13, 14, 15);
- Using the little finger of both hands, gently draw strokes along the lines of the nose (in Fig. 10, 11);
- Raise your head up and use vibrating technique to activate lines 20-23;
- Use your middle and ring fingers to massage lines 16-19;
- Use delicate strokes to manipulate the eye area (in Fig. 4-9).
Facial oval lift lines
Make a dissatisfied expression on your face, tightening the corners of your mouth. Massage the tense muscles under the corners of the lips for 30 seconds.

Holding your chin with one hand, use the edge of your index finger to press firmly with the other and move first in the direction of your ears, then in the opposite direction.

Vacuum cupping massage is also very helpful for tightening the oval. When working with cupping in a massage to tighten the oval of the face, you should pay special attention to the area of the chin, lower zygomatic arch and lateral surface of the neck.
Massage is a very effective way to reduce and prevent skin wrinkles on the frontal part. One of the best techniques is the spoon massage technique. Regular practice of this exercise relaxes the frontal muscles.
- Prepare a herbal decoction in equal proportions from chamomile and calendula. Pour into 2 glasses. Cool one, heat the other until hot;
- Dip a spoon into the hot broth for a few seconds and move the back side along the massage lines of the forehead, from the center to the temples, for about 1 minute;
- Then lower the spoon into a cold glass and repeat the manipulations;
- Also, spiral movements from the eyebrows towards the hairline relax the forehead muscles well, smoothing out wrinkles.
To relax the forehead, vacuum massage and self-massage of the entire head with your fingertips and pulling your hair also help.
The practice of deep massage of the face and neck allows you to work on all layers of the skin and muscle corset and achieve lasting rejuvenating results. The technique includes pinching and sculpting facial massage, working on every spasmodic and weakened muscle.
- Use pincers to walk along the contour of the lower jaw;
- Work the muscles in the eyebrow area from the inner corner to the outer;
- Lightly pinching, stretch the bridge of the nose;
- From the outer corner of the lips, go through the subcutaneous layers of muscles to the earlobe.
At this stage, it is good to use a map of facial muscles and a diagram of massage lines to tighten the oval.
Place the side of your index finger on top of the corner of your lips, and the pad of your thumb below it. Slowly connect your fingers, as if sliding across the skin.

Any massage procedure should end with relaxation and light strokes. This soothes delicate skin and activates the regeneration process.
After this, you can apply a tonic lotion or wipe your face with herbal infusions. Nutrients and microelements, thanks to massage practice, will fully saturate the skin cells.

Age-related changes can be dealt with in different ways. Some people prefer to only visually mask them with injections, while others decide to go under the surgeon’s knife. And the majority choose a more difficult, but reliable and safe way - it affects the very cause of wrinkles and sagging facial muscles.
The latter is precisely what massage refers to. How it works:
- Warms the skin, causes a rush of blood and oxygen.

- Place the tips of your index fingers on the area between your eyebrows. Using pointed vibrating movements, move your fingers to the temples along the upper border of the eyebrows.
- Lightly tap the line under the lower eyelid with the pads, moving from the nose towards the temples.
Helps relieve tension, “warm up” before facial exercises or applying a mask, and slightly smooth out wrinkles.
This is a more complex technique - you need to apply precise pressure on certain areas on the face. A maximum of 3 minutes is allotted for each zone, during which pressure and pauses alternate. These phases are equal and last 5 seconds.
Each side of the face is worked on separately. The pressure points are connected to each other by light broken lines, or these lines go beyond the line of the face - this is how tension is displayed. “Asahi” literally translates from Japanese as “massage for wrinkles,” so the name is telling. This method is even more aerobatics. Here there is an intense effect on deep muscles and connective tissue. Therefore, again, special skills are needed. It is better to do this massage in a salon. If you want to do self-massage, study the technique thoroughly, and at first, do not apply as much pressure as required.
For example:
- Press your fingers tightly to the middle of your forehead, hold for 3 seconds and press them to your temples, and from there perpendicularly down.
- Press your fists to the sides of your forehead above your eyebrows, thumbs extended and pointing down. Using the pads of your thumbs, press on the area near the nose at the border with the lower eyelid and apply pressure to the temples, hold there for 3 seconds. Then repeat the same with the upper eyelid, running your thumbs along the lower border of the eyebrows.
- Lips are compressed. Place your index fingers in the pits on the side of the nostrils, and your thumbs 1 cm below the corners of the mouth. Press, hold for 3 seconds, press your fingers to the corners of your lips, hold again for 3 seconds, move your fingers back.
The skin should be well lubricated with oil or cream.
Here the technique is similar to Shiatsu - active points are also warmed up. This massage relieves muscle spasms, helps for rejuvenation - smoothes out facial wrinkles and folds, relieves stress, and relieves headaches and toothaches. Plus, working out certain areas stimulates the production of elastin and glycogen.
Basic movements of Chinese massage:
- Cover your face with your palms. We move our eyes under our palms up and down, left and right, and rotate them. We blink quickly and quickly, sometimes simultaneously, sometimes alternately.
- Place your index fingers on both sides along the partition and heat it for 5 seconds. Then we rub the partition from bottom to top using pads in a circular motion.
- We pat our cheeks with our palms. We perform 10 claps, by the 5th clap the intensity increases, and then decreases again.
- Cover your ears with your palms and warm for 5 seconds. Then, with our middle fingers, we move pointwise from the tragus to the lobes, kneading them in a circular motion.
- Cover your lower lip with your upper lip, move your chin forward and slightly upward. Place your thumb in the hollow under the chin and massage it. Now use the back of your fingers to lightly move from your neck to your chin.
Important condition: hands must be warm. Therefore, warm them up - rub your palms together thoroughly.
