Hunger will prolong the youth of the brain

Scientists from the Catholic University in Rome claim that hunger is very beneficial for the brain: its cells age more slowly in those people who do not eat enough during meals.

In the course of their research, specialists discovered a special protein, which they named CREB1. It is actively released in the body of a starving person, and the longer a person does not eat, the more the substance is produced. An increase in the secretion of this protein makes sirtuins active - special chemical compounds that regulate the aging process, affect the protective mechanisms of cells and can delay their death. Sirtuins are found in all organisms, both bacteria and humans.

Now experts are trying to create drugs that would stimulate the release of CREB1 and thereby allow a person to eat normally and keep the brain functional for as long as possible.
