Pectin is a substance consisting of a polymer, the monomer of which is galacturonic acid. It has the ability to bind and remove toxic substances, pathogenic microorganisms, heavy metal salts, and radionuclides from the body. Used as an enterosorbent to remove allergens, medications, and alcohol breakdown products from the body. Pectins have also found application in the food industry. In light industry, pectins are used in the production of building materials, in particular paper and cardboard. They are widely used in medicine, being the basis for the manufacture of various medicines. It got its name due to the pectin substances it contains. They have an insoluble base and resemble a honeycomb.
