Sauces and Seasonings

Sauces and seasonings are an integral part of our diet, and play a particularly important role in children's nutrition. They not only make food more nutritious and varied, but also give it an appetizing appearance, aroma and taste, which stimulates children's appetite. However, you should not use the same seasonings every day, as this can lead to children quickly eating food. It is also important to remember that all seasonings should be used in moderation and take breaks from time to time.

In summer, the most suitable seasonings are aromatic greens and spicy root vegetables, such as dried herbs, ground carrot seeds, parsley, celery, dill, fennel, cumin, anise and root vegetables. In winter, you can use dried herbs, and also add ground root seeds to dishes.

Seasonings made from radishes, rutabaga or cabbage stalks are very good for children. Vegetables need to be grated, squeezed and seasoned with sour cream, lemon juice, sugar syrup and saline solution.

In addition to sauces, side dishes can also enrich a dish and improve its taste. Side dishes can be served with meat, fish and other dishes.

Sauces that you can make at home have a fresher and more natural taste than store-bought ones. For example, white sauce can be prepared from 100 g of meat or fish broth, 5 g of wheat flour, 10 g of butter, juice of 1/4 lemon and 2 ml of saline solution. To prepare it, you need to cook a strong meat or fish broth, cool it to 50 degrees, add sifted wheat flour and stir thoroughly so that there are no lumps. The rest of the broth needs to be heated to a boil, poured into undiluted flour, stirred and simmered at low boil for 15 minutes. Then you need to add the salt solution, boil again and add small pieces of butter into the hot sauce, add lemon juice and stir until the butter is completely dissolved and combined with the sauce.

Béchamel sauce is another simple and delicious sauce that you can make at home. To prepare it, you need to take 1 teaspoon of flour, 100 ml of milk, 1 teaspoon of butter, 1 ml of saline solution and, if desired, 3 ml of sugar syrup. Fry the flour in butter until golden brown, then gradually pour in the milk and mix thoroughly so that there are no lumps. Next, you need to bring the sauce to a boil and cook it over low heat, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens. At the end you can add saline solution and sugar syrup if desired.

Another simple and delicious sauce that you can make at home is tomato sauce. To prepare it, you need to take 1 kg of ripe tomatoes, 1 onion, 2 cloves of garlic, 2 tablespoons of olive oil, 1 teaspoon of saline solution, 1 teaspoon of sugar syrup and spices to taste (for example, oregano, basil, thyme). Tomatoes need to be doused with boiling water, peeled and cut into cubes. Finely chop the onion and garlic and fry in olive oil until golden brown. Then you need to add the chopped tomatoes and spices, stir and cook over medium heat until the sauce thickens and becomes fragrant. At the end you can add saline solution and sugar syrup if desired.

It is important to remember that the preparation of sauces and seasonings must take place in clean and hygienic conditions to avoid the risk of food contamination by harmful microorganisms. You also need to monitor the composition of seasonings and sauces so that they do not contain harmful preservatives, dyes and other additives.
