What is kinesio taping? Does a bodybuilder need it?

How? Have you heard about kinesio taping yet? - Ashamed! It's a shame not to know this! Have you never seen the bright multi-colored stripes on the bodies of athletes who have been attracting the attention of curious spectators for two or three Olympics in a row...

However, here in Russia it is still rare for anyone who does not have at least some connection to sports medicine or sports to know what it is... This article will correct this unfortunate omission...

Now we will tell you: what is kinesio taping? Let’s also ask an important question: do we bodybuilders need this feature? Is this technique applicable in iron sports and is it worth adopting?

First, let’s decipher the meaning of the word itself: kinesio taping. Literally, translated from English, we get: “movement with the application of tape.” Now let's explain what this means? The tape is scientifically called kinesio tape - it is a specially shaped elastic cotton strip on a thin layer of special hypoallergenic acrylic glue. Its flexible, elastic properties give rise to the second beautiful innovative word “kinesio” in the name of this product. Now let’s look at how this all relates to movement...

The exceptionally elastic properties of kinesio tape make it possible to find a unique solution to such a seemingly unsolvable problem as stabilizing a damaged joint while maintaining the full range of motion. At the same time, kinesio tape does not tighten muscles and blood vessels, does not rub the skin, and does not block joint mobility in any way.

Now let's think about what this gives us - bodybuilders? I think it’s no secret to anyone that our sport is very traumatic. We have to work with serious weights, and at the peak of our physical capabilities. Therefore, injuries to joints and ligaments are very important for bodybuilders. Let's say that during training you felt that you had slightly injured your joint. This is not yet an injury, but it is already a serious prerequisite for getting it in subsequent work. You can, of course, refuse further training, switch to other muscle groups and take a break for recovery, take specialized medications and rehabilitate over time... But you don’t want to waste so much time, especially if there is no injury yet... This is where it will help you kinesio taping. We stick the tape on the problem area and, without slowing down the pace and enthusiasm, continue to train. Kinesio tape will provide you with reliability and confidence in a slightly torn joint. You will be able to fully complete your training plan without fear of consequences...

So, our verdict: definitely a necessary thing! Let's take it into service! If you are seriously involved in iron sports, this thing will definitely come in handy... We recommend it!
