How to find and arrange a suitable room for a gym?

Physical education and sports work at the place of residence is carried out by housing services. They create public physical education and sports clubs (FSK). Anyone can become a member of these services. They choose a name and emblem for themselves and, united, begin to work.

The clubs' range of concerns is quite wide. Among their responsibilities and tasks:
  1. popularization and public propaganda of physical education and sports,
  2. active involvement in systematic physical exercise, hardening, mass sports, tourism, etc.;
  3. carrying out physical education, recreational and educational sports work with children (especially with “difficult” teenagers) and with adults;
  4. construction and renovation of gyms, playgrounds, health trails, etc., design of rooms and territory of the club, places of competitions and classes;
  5. organizing and holding sports competitions, tournaments, competitions, match meetings, sports festivals...

The club needs: a specially equipped room with a teaching room and a gym or sports training room, proper equipment for a gym, as well as a variety of open facilities of one of the proposed types:

  1. sports and gyms (rooms) for fitness and bodybuilding training, in non-residential premises of houses, social, cultural and public institutions (schools, shops, studios, etc.) where possible, they are supplemented by showers, locker rooms, sports equipment storage and points its rental.
  2. simple adult and children's sports grounds, gymnastics towns, “boxes” for hockey and figure skating, mini-stadiums in free courtyard areas;
  3. health paths for measured walking and jogging, illuminated ski trails on the territory of nearby squares, boulevards, parks, vacant lots, and forests.

The allocated space for a gym or training room is usually small - 20-30 m2. Therefore, small-sized exercise equipment and small equipment should be placed in it. All sports equipment is installed along the walls so that you can move freely in the middle part of the room. In one corner you can place a platform for training with a barbell and some weightlifting machines (Fig. 1).

Rice. 1. Equipment of the sports training room:

1 - platform for training with a barbell; 2 — rod; 3 — box for rod discs; 4 — weightlifting simulator; 5 — wrist simulators; 6 — rack for sports equipment; 7 — rubber bands; 8 - dumbbells; 9 — expanders; 10 — massagers; 11 — gymnastic stairs; 12 — hinged crossbar; 13 — gymnastic bracket; 14 — rack-handrails; 15 - bench; 16 — simulator “Vigor”; 17 — dynamic steering; 18 - rowing machine

In such an equipped sports and training room, 10-12 people can work out simultaneously. With such a number of people involved, sufficient ventilation should be provided.

Sports and training rooms (halls)

Housing services take into account all empty and uninhabited premises. The FSK board may obtain permission to equip them with gyms, board game rooms, locker rooms, showers, sports equipment storage, and rental points.

Once you have received permission, you need to create an estimate for the cost of the equipment. Funds should be provided for materials for re-equipment and repair, for the production and purchase of sports equipment and exercise equipment, and small sports equipment.

Repairs to the premises can be carried out by the residents themselves, together with employees of housing and communal services and housing services. Certain types of sports equipment are also made by the residents themselves. In other articles we will talk about exercises performed on some of them - both those made independently and those purchased in specialized stores.
