Colds: how to prevent and treat them
A cold is a common condition that can affect anyone at any time of the year. It is not a disease, but rather a symptom of a complex of factors that can contribute to the development of various diseases. Therefore, when the first signs of a cold appear, such as feverish body aches, headache, runny nose, cough, fever, etc., it is necessary to take measures to prevent and treat it.
Firstly, it is very important to drink plenty of fluids, including hot drinks. One of the most effective ways to fight a cold is tea with ginger and honey. To prepare this tea, you need to grate a quarter cup of peeled ginger, add this glass of honey and boil. You need to put half a teaspoon of porridge per cup, but for those who do not like very strong tea, you can add more sugar. You can also drink tinctures of linden blossom, elderberry, raspberry and other herbs that have a diaphoretic effect.
Secondly, a warm and dry regime should be ensured. You can wet your feet with vodka and put on dry stockings, put several dry cans on your chest and back. It's good to wrap yourself up and try to sleep so you can sweat. Usually, after sleep and sweat, a cold goes away.
Thirdly, if the cold continues the next day, you can take a laxative and then eat nothing for the whole day, but only drink water acidified with lemon or cranberry. You can take antipyretics orally, such as salicylic sodium or salipyrin. If the ache is felt all day, then at night you can rub the body with a tincture of juniper or birch buds in alcohol, which gives a lot of sweat and reduces the ache.
Fourthly, if the fever still does not go away by the morning, and the cold is clearly felt throughout the body, then it is better to consult a doctor. Perhaps this is the beginning of some serious illness.
Finally, when fever breaks out on the lips and nose, it is recommended to soak such sores several times a day with pure alcohol or cologne. When fever breaks out in the mouth, rinse your mouth several times a day with very hot water.
In general, it is important to remember that colds can be prevented by following a good daily routine, eating right, strengthening the immune system and avoiding contact with sick people. If a cold does occur, it is necessary to take measures to treat it in order to avoid complications and speed up recovery. However, if the condition does not improve, you should consult a doctor to receive qualified medical care. Remember that health is our main capital, and you should take care of it with all responsibility.
The common cold is a group of acute respiratory diseases that are similar in clinical manifestations and related to different diseases. This group includes influenza, parainfluenza, adenovirus, rhinovirus infection, etc. The greatest epidemiological danger is posed by influenza and ARVI, which often develop into mass diseases, especially in industries with a large number of workers. The greatest spread of colds occurs in late autumn and winter with a sharp drop in temperature and variable wind circulation. At the same time, there is a significant increase in the number of colds among the child population. Thus, by the beginning of autumn, the number of children’s colds doubles compared to the winter season, and the maximum number of cases is registered in December. However, children most often suffer from influenza. Adults with ARVI suffer from colds on average one to two times a year, but they may get them more often because they are not in the habit of fighting them with medication. Colds are viruses and bacteria that provoke the appearance of the herpes virus in the human body. This means that people talk about this disease as when they failed to become infected with the flu, although they had contact with a patient with this infection. On the other hand, even an airborne infection that enters the body of a person who does not have a predisposition to this pathology can become the causative agent of a cold.
