Why you should take up Pilates: 5 reasons

The new form of exercise was originally invented for men and athletes in the early 1920s by Joseph Pilates. Now the “charging” named after him is popular all over the world. Do you want to restore muscle tone? Do you have injuries or chronic pain? Don't have time to solve these problems? Pilates is your chance to transform before your eyes in a matter of months.

Here are five reasons why you should try it, even if you're not sure it's for you.

  1. Injury Prevention

Injuries in a variety of places and varying degrees of complexity can leave us incapacitated for weeks, months, or even years. But what if there are exercises that prevent their occurrence, rather than aggravate the situation with unreasonable stress?

Pilates focuses on exercises that strengthen the abdominal and back muscles. Notice how you walk, sit, lie and bend. If you suffer from back pain, it is probably because these muscles are weak. This means that they should be strengthened.

  1. Strengthening the Heart

For many of us, the cardiovascular system is like a stumbling block. From time to time, most Ukrainians experience pain in the heart area. It is one of the most vulnerable organs in our body. And when the heart is weak, the whole body works uncoordinated.

The heart is our most important muscle, which simply must remain in good shape. Strength training in the gym with heavy lifting can only make things worse. Pilates strengthens the pericardial muscles - after doing abdominal exercises, the diaphragm begins to work much better.

  1. Increased flexibility and coordination

The muscles responsible for coordinating movements after Pilates work much better - this means that stretching occurs much faster. And, for example, in winter, if you accidentally slip and do the splits, there will be no injuries or tears.

  1. Pilates is for everyone...

There is no group of people for whom Pilates would not be recommended. Women, men, children, seniors with chronic illnesses, and even pregnant women can benefit from Pilates. It improves posture, eliminates shortness of breath, helps relieve joint tension and prevents cramps (this is especially true for athletes and dancers). With Pilates, you do not risk overexerting yourself and developing soreness, because the load on the muscles occurs very gradually.

  1. ...And anywhere

Pilates is so versatile that you can take a class almost anywhere: at home, in a gym or studio, in a hotel room, even at the local park! All you need is you and a mat, as well as bands and massage balls if desired. And 15 minutes of free time.

Joseph Pilates once said about his method: “In 10 sessions you will feel the difference, in 20 sessions you will see it, and in 30 you will have a completely new body.” Not a bad prospect, right?
