Adjustable bench

Adjustable bench – an indispensable equipment for any bodybuilder, used to develop the muscles of the upper shoulder girdle. We can perform all kinds of rows, presses, flyovers and pullovers under any positive (head up) and negative (head down) angles solely due to the presence of this universally mobile device from the arsenal of fitness and bodybuilding.

Device diagram and main dimensions:

The device in question consists of a frame (1) on which a seat (2) and a backrest (3) with adjustable tilt angles are mounted.

The bench can be used to perform the following exercises:

  1. seated barbell (dumbbell) chest press;
  2. lying reconnaissance (in various variations) hands with dumbbells;
  3. lying abduction of arms with a kettlebell, dumbbell, barbell behind the head;
  4. sitting with an inclination, resting your elbow on your thigh, concentrated biceps curls with a dumbbell;
  5. standing, leaning on your knee, dumbbell row with one hand;
  6. sitting, leaning your back, alternating biceps curls with dumbbells.

An athletic bench that is adjustable or simply an inclined bench.

No self-respecting gym can do without this extremely useful device. In combination with a rack, barbell and dumbbells, this design opens up truly incredible horizons for your training. Even the famous Joe Weider in his training system, which conquered the whole world, on which hundreds of now famous bodybuilders grew up, highlighted this device as key in the bodybuilder’s arsenal. In his opinion, to work on building a beautiful muscular body you only need:

  1. Bar stand,
  2. The bar itself, dumbbells and a set of discs for them,
  3. Athletic adjustable incline bench,
  4. Roman chair.

This is the very minimum with the help of which adherents of the Weider theory can create a real athlete. As you can see, the device we are considering is far from last on this list.

The design of the device (see figure) is as follows:

1 - back;

2 — spring bracket;

3 — seat;

4 - stand, hinged on the seat;

5 — spring clamp;

6 - restrictive chain;

7 - welded base,

8 - stopper;

10 - upper post, hinged in the lower tubular post 9.

Bench length 1210 mm, width 390 mm, height 380 mm, back and seat width 320 mm. The backrest can be raised at an angle of 80°, the seat at an angle of 55°. Bench weight 30 kg. They put it at the universal weightlifting machine or at racks for squats on level ground (with a solid base). The back and seat are set at the required angle and fixed. When the backrest is in a horizontal position, the top post rotates close to the backrest and is inserted into the spring bracket.

Finally, I would like to add: even if you are a beginner, an amateur, and have seriously decided to engage in bodybuilding, even at home, you still need to somehow implement adjustable weight bench, or at least some semblance of it. You can read about how, in an ordinary apartment, you can make a rack for a barbell and a bench for bench presses from scrap materials in this detailed and very popular article of ours. So it’s not at all necessary to run to a sports training salon and leave a tidy sum of money there for sports equipment. Having shown some skill and ingenuity, it is quite possible to come up with something, spending a minimum of your financial resources. So take heart, gentlemen, aspiring bodybuilders!
