Triglycerides

A triglyceride is typically a long-chain fat found in most naturally occurring plant and animal oils and fats. These fats are essential for cellular health due to their ability to store energy. Like other fats, glycerides are more available in their salt (palmitate, oleate or stearate) because the neutral forms (oleum, palmolaptone) are less soluble in water. Pure glycerides can crystallize with significant volume change when heated, so they are usually mixed with oils to give the mixture a certain consistency.
