Hair Breathing (Part 3) Continued

1. Start your classes with the “hair breathing” exercise on your head. This week you will tune in much faster, since you already have some experience. Perform the exercise for at least 30 seconds.

2. Direct the energy flow into the oral cavity. Feel the roof of your mouth and tongue relax and fill them with the loving energy of your inner smile.

3. Turn your attention to your armpits, and perform “armpit breathing” for 30 seconds.

4. Feel how the energy from the hairs on the back of your wrists begins to rise up your arms until it reaches the armpit area. The energy saturation of the armpits increases, and you will be able to feel how the energy flow causes a slight tingling and flows from the armpit hair to the outer surface of the arms.

5. Direct the energy accumulated in your armpits into your mouth. Tongue sucking, cheek retraction, and slight squinting draw energy into the area. At the same time, a metallic taste may be felt in the mouth.

6. Turn your attention to your pubic hair. Almost instantly, a tingling sensation will begin in the pubic area.

7. Take a reverse breath and feel the energy flow into your pubic hair. This flow represents excess qi.

8. As you exhale, feel the energy leaving your body through your pubic hair.

9. Continue to “breathe” your pubic hair for a minute. It is possible that you will feel a little excited.

10. Direct the energy into your mouth. Tongue sucking, cheek retraction, and slight squinting draw energy into the area.

11. To activate salivation, make nine circular movements with your tongue between your lips and teeth. Repeat the same six times in the opposite direction. This procedure will help fill your mouth with saliva. If your mouth continues to be dry, increase the number of times you move your tongue in both directions.

12. Feel how the energy of the hair on your head, armpits and pubic area is absorbed by saliva. To better merge energy flows, move your lower jaw back and forth.

13. Press the tip of your tongue against your lower teeth and its middle part against your palate.

14. Swallow your saliva, making a characteristic sound, and feel how the energy settles in your stomach. Feel how the lower area of the tan tien warms up as it fills with excess energy.

15. Pat your chest and armpits with your palm and walk around the room for 15 seconds.

Hair Breathing (Part 3)

By practicing, you will get used to the exercise and it will become normal for you. At the mastery stage, you should gain at least a superficial understanding of your own ability to move energy flows through the skin. After some time, you will get a clear understanding of the concept of proper breathing, which is completely different from Western stereotypes. This week we will return to “pubic hair breathing” in the section on the Shen exercise.
