Scientists: alcohol strengthens a woman's bones

Scientists from Scotland have found that moderate alcohol consumption makes women's bones denser and stronger.

Experts from the University of Aberdeen in Scotland found that bone density increases, especially in the hip area, if a woman drinks alcohol within reasonable limits. “Reasonable limits” are 1 glass of wine per day, but it must be combined with foods rich in calcium.

As you know, bone problems and osteoporosis can develop in women during menopause. For their study, Scottish doctors recruited 900 menopausal women. They all ate foods with calcium and drank wine. After 5 and 7 years, none of them showed signs of osteoporosis.

However, if you drink alcohol in excess, the result will be the opposite - destruction and brittleness of bones.
