Training device for javelin, discus, hammer throwers, etc.

The device is designed to accelerate and facilitate the development of speed and strength qualities of a javelin thrower. When using the device, the angle of departure of the projectile, the angle of application of force are controlled and the structure of the entire exercise is maintained with unlimited possibilities for using various weights, including the static mode of operation.

In Fig. 1, a shows a general view of the installation in action, in Fig. 1, b - side and top view of the installation. The resistance unit is a shaft 4, made in the form of eight disks of different diameters with holes 3 and a cross 2 with weights 6, rotating in bearings, a support 5. The cable 9 is wound on one of the disks. The shaft with the cross is mounted on a welded frame 1. A guide 11 with a limiter 12 is fixed on the racks 7, 14 using clamps 8, 13. A roller 10 slides along the guide, driven by the athlete.

The javelin thrower takes the starting position (Fig. 1, a), takes hold of the roller connected to a cable wound on one of the shaft disks on which the cross with weights is attached. The diameter of the disc determines resistance value (the smaller it is, the greater the resistance, and vice versa). Thus, about 300 resistance options are created (from 1 to 4800 kg). Depending on the training program, the cable is attached to certain discs. An athlete-thrower performs an exercise by accelerating the roller along the guide, thereby spinning the shaft and overcoming the force of its inertia. At the end of the movement, the roller rolls back from the limiter, the shaft continues to rotate by inertia, the cable is wound and returns to its original position, which creates conditions for multiple repetitions of the exercise.

In addition to the javelin thrower, this installation can be used shot putter, discus and hammer thrower. This is done by changing the angle of the guide (when putting the shot) and using special handles and additional blocks, installed in a different plane (horizontal) for discus and hammer throwing. The cable is attached to a special belt, allowing the athlete to run from the start: both with constant stable resistance and with variable resistance, depending on the training program.

As you can see, this training device has a very wide range of applications, is flexibly adjusted to simulate different levels of load, and allows you to train not only javelin throwing, but also hammer throwing, discus throwing, shot put, which makes it simply indispensable for representatives of these sports disciplines.
