This week you will learn to breathe through the bones of the skull and direct the energy down the spine to the hips and down to the tips of the toes. If you have not missed training, then the upcoming task will not be difficult for you. As already mentioned, the more you practice “spinal (bone) marrow breathing,” the easier it is to perform.
So this week you will be moving energy through many bones. I suspect that some of you did not experience any sensations associated with this technique at the beginning of classes. How successfully you master it can be judged by unexpected and distinct sensations in areas that were not previously perceived by your senses.
I have been having trouble with my right hip for several years. No matter how I tried to feel it, nothing worked, although, naturally, I could be convinced of its existence at any moment by touching it with my hand. However, in my mind I could not even imagine its outline.
One evening, while practicing “spinal (bone) marrow breathing,” I saw myself as if from the inside. I was able to clearly see the right thigh. I could literally feel every cell in my hip bone. It felt hard, but painful and spongy. When I fully focused on her, I saw how she absorbed energy and changed right before my eyes. The density increased, and the fragility gradually disappeared. At first, its structure felt like cork, but gradually began to look like mahogany. It felt like some lost part of myself was coming back to life. I remembered that in early childhood I could feel all my bones, but then no adult enlightened me about this. At least this did not happen until I became a follower of Taoism.
These are the amazing metamorphoses that occur in the process of comprehending the technique of “spinal (bone) marrow breathing.” Truly, this is one of the best exercises for maintaining excellent physical shape.
- 1. Perform the “spinal (bone) marrow breathing” exercise in the volume that you have already mastered, that is, with your fingers, palms, forearms, shoulders, shoulder blades and collarbones.
- 2. Inhale and direct the energy through your shoulder blades and collarbones to your neck.
- 3. Next, direct the energy up the throat, into the jaw, into the facial bones all the way to the back of the head.
- 4. As you exhale, the energy moves down to the base of the skull and further down the spine.
- 5. When the energy reaches the sacrum, it is divided into two streams, flowing down the sides into the legs and further down, down to the “murmuring streams”, points in the centers of the feet.
- 6. For 30 seconds, inhale and exhale through “murmuring streams.”
- 7. Start inhaling and exhaling with your toes. Start with the big toe of your left foot. Inhale and exhale energy with this finger, then move on to breathing with the second, third, fourth and finally the little finger.
- 8. Repeat the exercise with the toes of your right foot.
- 9. Inhale and exhale energy with all your toes at the same time. Before exhaling, begin to raise the energy to your ankles. Do this exercise for at least 15-30 seconds.
- 10. Inhale through the tibia and fibula down to the knee then exhale through the toes. Do this exercise for at least 15-30 seconds.
- 11. Inhale energy with your toes and move it up your thigh bone all the way to your hip joint, then exhale with your toes. Do this exercise for at least 15-30 seconds.
- 12. Inhale energy with your toes and move it up into your pelvic bones, then exhale with your toes. Do this exercise for about 30 seconds.
With practice, you will feel how the energy will independently strive to fill all your bones. It will spontaneously spread to the spine, ribs and breast bones. We'll get into that next week.
