Lanevenga tongs (also known as Lannelong, Lannellio or Lanelong) are a piece of kitchen equipment used for cooking food over an open fire or in ovens, as well as for serving it. Outwardly, this tool resembles tongs - a large fork with teeth, but not at the base. In the center of the tongs is a round part about the size of a dessert knife. It is the most interesting for us, because it is in this area that carbon deposits can appear.
The basis of Lannellon tongs is a stamped or cast steel plate 0.2-0.5 mm thick, on one side of which there are curved side edges and a curved base with a hole in the center. On the side opposite the hole, handles made of reinforced synthetic material (plastic, metal) are welded. The metal part of the tool is installed at the place where the handles are attached. An aluminum part about 1 mm thick, made exactly to the dimensions of the steel base, is attached to the lower half of the base. It is rare to use two steel plates instead of a plastic part. Instead, special clamping handles are installed. The elements are placed inside the metal rods using a regular screwdriver.
Why do we need all these quirks of metal on the sides and on the base itself?
