What are the dangers of a sedentary lifestyle?

As our studies have shown, insufficient physical development and low levels of functional state indicators are the result inactive lifestyle during school years. Today hypokinesia considered by many medical experts illness. Hypokinesia (from Greek “hypo”, decrease, insufficiency, reduction, lack; “kinesis” - movement) - a state of the human body caused by lack of physical activity, that is, limiting the amount and volume of movement as a result of a sedentary lifestyle and characteristics of professional activity. Hypokinesia is atrophic changes in the muscles, detraining of the cardiovascular system (cardiovascular system), decreased orthostatic stability, serious changes in the water-salt balance of the circulatory system, demineralization of bones, and so on... The result of all of the above is a decrease in the functional activity of internal organs and systems and a violation of the correct the work of regulatory mechanisms responsible for their relationship, deterioration of immunity and resistance to all sorts of unfavorable factors. It is also worth adding to this that the lack of the systematic physical activity we need so much causes negative changes in the functioning of the higher parts of our brain. Its subcortical structures and formations are most affected. As a result of all this, the overall defenses of our body decrease, increased fatigue, sleep disturbances, etc. occur, and the ability to maintain high mental or physical productivity and performance for a long time decreases.

The absence of the necessary systematic optimal physical activity during school years is indicated by the results of a questionnaire survey of first-year students. The questionnaire was devoted to studying the experience of doing physical education during school.

The loads used during school years can be judged by the number of meters covered in class. The data obtained indicate that the most preferred segments in the hierarchy of importance were the following: 63.2% of respondents ran 200-500 m during the lesson, 500-1000 - 14.2%, 1000-1500 m - 9.8%, 1500-2000 m 7.2%, 2000-3000 m - 5.6%. 77.4% of respondents responded that physical education lessons at school were mainly held in the gym. The information received indicates that 28.9% of students missed physical education classes at school without a valid reason and 26.0% due to illness.

It was revealed that 87.7% of respondents regularly attended physical education classes in grades 1-4, 84.9% in grades 5-6, 80.1% in grades 7-8, and 49 in grades 9-11. 2%. This situation in grades 9-11 indicates a violation of one of the basic principles of physical education - the regularity of physical activity in the educational and training process. The survey shows that the number of schoolchildren with health problems is increasing as follows: in grades 1-4 - 16.9%, in grades 5-6 - 22.6%, in grades 7-8 - 9.1%, in grades 9-11 - 31.4%.

Research also showed that after the diagnosis of the disease, 53.6% of schoolchildren continued to engage in physical education in full and only 16.0% were engaged in special or preparatory groups 3 times a week. Among the main reasons for missing physical education classes at school, respondents named shyness due to poor motor fitness and fear of receiving an unsatisfactory grade.

How can you influence the development of a sedentary lifestyle?

The results of the survey allow us to confidently assume that insufficient physical development, low level of physical fitness and functional state of school graduates are, first of all, the result lack of a differentiated approach to assessment and grade in the subject physical education and irregular physical activity during school years.

  1. control of the trainer over the results of training and education. As a result of assessing what has been achieved, the instructor receives information to judge the abilities and diligence of students, as well as the effectiveness of their work;
  2. management of the activities and behavior of those involved;
  3. students receiving information about the correctness of their actions and actions (so-called feedback for students).

Back in the 30s of the last century, B.G. Ananyev emphasized that the assessment carries a large educational power of influence. Evaluation always evokes a certain attitude towards itself. With its help, a person forms an opinion about himself as a student, an athlete, a person. A person is not indifferent to the attitude of others towards him. In view of this, assessments contribute formation of positive personality traits, a person’s life position in a team and society, increase or decrease the student’s activity.

Analysis of the problem shows that grades and grades are a topic that teachers are ready to discuss endlessly. It is on this issue that opposing opinions often clash. Let us note that despite contradictions in discussions on the issue of assessment and marking in physical education, most authors studying this problem come to a common opinion. Grade in the subject "Physical Education" must be differentiated.

Prevention of hypokinesia

However, grades and a differentiated approach to physical education during school and student years are important and necessary if you already suffer from this illness, and your problems are already quite aggravated... But what needs to be done in terms of preventing hypokinesia? How to protect your child from this terrible disease of the last millennium? Many will say: “We need to reduce his time sitting at the computer, not let him watch TV day and night, take him out for walks more often, and much more...” - In fact, this is all, of course, correct, but not the main thing and not entirely then... The best prevention of hypokinesia is personal parental example! If your child, from childhood, sees you driving to the bakery by car, and when you come home, you plop down in a chair and don’t get up from it all evening, lying down and watching TV all day, etc., then it is unlikely that he will be able to avoid this insidious illness. Children are like sponges. They absorb everything and repeat the actions and behavior of their parents. Therefore, if your child sees that you regularly go to the pool at least once a week, go to work exclusively by bicycle, and your dumbbells do not gather dust, slowly becoming covered with rust, he will also begin to do all this. Get him used to sports, instill in him a craving for a healthy lifestyle. Charge it competitive spirit - let him try to overtake Mom in the hundred-meter race or swim the pool ahead of Dad. A punching bag and a pull-up bar are the minimum that every home should have. And not only for the child, but first of all for you! If you need it, then the child will be drawn to it. Well, then no hypokinesia is dangerous for him and will not occur to him even in his worst nightmare.
