Underwater Sports

Underwater sports

Underwater sports include diving, snorkeling and spearfishing. Usually, for underwater sports, a set of equipment is used, consisting of a breathing tube, mask and fins. In this equipment you can float on the surface of the water with your head lowered into the water and breathe through a breathing tube. If necessary, a swimmer wearing this equipment can dive, remaining underwater for some time without breathing.

For a long stay under water (up to 10 minutes or more) at great depths for the purpose of photography, filming, scientific research, etc., or when participating in special sports competitions, a set of equipment is used, which, in addition to a breathing tube, mask and fins, includes a breathing apparatus - scuba gear , powered by compressed air.

Due to the high heat capacity and thermal conductivity of water, the human body loses a lot of heat and cools quickly. Therefore, when immersing in water with a temperature below 18°C, to protect against hypothermia, you should wear protective clothing (special wetsuit or wetsuit, warm underwear, gloves).

Underwater sports promote health, improve physical development, and the functional state of the cardiovascular, respiratory, nervous and other body systems. Only healthy people can engage in underwater sports; It is contraindicated for any health deviations from the norm. These classes also require some knowledge in the field of physiology, physical properties of air and water; it is also necessary to have a good knowledge of the structure of the equipment and the rules for using it.

You can start teaching children scuba diving from the age of 9. Before you begin to engage in underwater sports on your own, you must obtain permission from a doctor. Since underwater sports involve a number of dangers, it is necessary to undergo preliminary training under the supervision of an experienced instructor.
