Shingards. What? How? For what?

Martial arts MMA – a sport for those who love risk, adrenaline, competition and the delight of victory. Real men are ready to endure pain and get tired during intense training for the sake of these sensations.

Contact sports do not involve constant and inevitable injury, as many people think. Trauma is always an incident, not a norm. Any athletic discipline’s main goal is to strengthen the health and endurance of the athlete, and not to undermine his physical strength.

In mixed martial arts, various protective equipment is used to maintain the health of a fighter. It softens the blows; training without it is not only impossible, but strictly prohibited.

Beginners always wonder how to choose the right protective equipment? Let's try to answer this question using the example of shingards.

Shin guards are a special protective pad that protects the shin and arch of the foot from bruises. Such pads are usually made from genuine leather; at least such products can be called high-quality and durable.

Inside the shingles there is always a layer of soft foam material, similar to polystyrene foam, but softer.

On the side in contact with the body, the pads are covered with natural fabric. Usually this fabric is also impregnated with antibacterial compounds. MMA gloves and all other protective equipment that comes into contact with the body are also treated with antibacterial impregnation.

It is important to note that the specified fabric should allow air to pass through well and be pleasant to the touch. With poor air circulation, condensation may occur in the space between the shingles and the body and, consequently, an unpleasant odor.

By the way, in any case, protective equipment that comes into contact with the body after training must be dried.

In addition, protective leg plates must securely fix the ankle joint to avoid dislocations, sprains and tears of muscle tissue and ligaments. The length of comfortable shin plates should reach the knee.

Don't waste time trying on before buying. It is better to make sure in advance that the equipment fits you in size, does not rub, does not pinch, or has any inconvenient parts or design features.
