Lumbar massage

Massage in the lumbar region will help cope with back pain

Execution instruction

The first step is to prepare the surface on which the patient will be located. This should be a special table or a floor with a massage mat. Place massage oil (preferably without fragrance) and several towels next to you.

We decide on the surface to be worked on - it includes the area from the lower ribs to the gluteal folds. Particular attention is paid to working out the lumbar and sacral regions. The patient should lie on his stomach with his arms along his body.

  1. Just like a back massage, we begin to work on the surface using the stroking method. To do this, we place both hands in the lumbar region so that the thumbs are practically connected. We begin to lightly stroke along the spine up and down.
  2. We move on to deep stroking of the lower back. To do this, we apply increased pressure in the lumbar region, moving our hands to the tailbone. Then we return to the starting position. This deep stroking should be performed 15-20 times.
  3. Next we perform muscle rubbing. To do this, use the pads of four fingers, lightly pressing on the skin, and slowly and smoothly move up and down. Then, using the same movement, we work the lower back diagonally on both sides. Add thumb movement. In this case, four fingers are clenched, the main movement is performed with the thumbs. Next, we change the position of the hands and perform transverse rubbing - the fingers should move towards each other.
  4. Then we knead the lower back. We grab some of the muscles with our fingers and move our fingers upward, as if sliding along the skin. Movements should be smooth and slow, hands should move from bottom to top, fingers pressed tightly to the skin.
  5. After deep kneading, perform light tapping.
  6. The massage session should be completed with patting movements of both palms.

One massage session can last from 10 to 40 minutes. The recommended course of treatment is 10-15 procedures.
