A modern discus thrower and his training apparatus for throwing.

We have all been familiar with this famous sculpture since childhood: a muscular, athletic young man - a discus thrower, frozen in the pose of a decisive swing... It is this ancient creation, like nothing else, that we most closely associate with sports. Think for yourself: is there any other sculpture in the World? more athletic than a discus thrower? I think the answer is obvious. And now we will talk about those athletes who go out into the sector every day, tightly clutching their favorite throwing equipment in their hands...

Speaking of the projectile... During the life of the ancient discus thrower, there were no advanced simulators, and indeed at least some kind of educational and sports equipment and special devices. The athlete’s training was limited only to the daily methodical and tedious throwing of objects of various weights at the maximum possible distance...

Fortunately, today, in our days, any throwing apparatus is successfully complemented by a whole complex of training devices and devices, which are improved and constantly improved every day for the benefit of athletes and their coaches. Today, both the shot putter and the discus thrower, as well as the hammer and javelin throwers, have in their arsenal wide range of exercise equipment, helping to hone technique, develop explosive pushing power, and achieve new, previously unseen champion results. Pendulum training setup.

The device is designed to develop speed-strength qualities of specific muscle groups of the shot putter and discus thrower. Installation makes it possible learn the technique of performing movements: both in general and its individual, most important phases, while maintaining the maximum level of conjugation with the classical competitive movement.

The installation (Fig. 1) is a physical pendulum, the moment of inertia of which can be changed using load masses. The installation consists of a frame 1, a bar 2, a support platform 3, to which the athlete applies force, and a load 4.

You can perform the following basic exercises on the device:
  1. And. p. - standing facing the pushing direction, legs apart, pushing hand is on the supporting platform; straightening the arm, simulating shot put; emphasis on the pushing hand;
  2. And. p. - the same, the right leg is set back slightly; pushing the pendulum forward - up;
  3. And. p. - stand sideways in the direction of pushing; on count I, bend your right leg, on count II, straightening your right leg, push the pendulum forward - up;
  4. And. p. - the same, stand to the right of the pendulum, the right arm is extended to the right, and its palm lies on the support platform. Performing the final effort in discus throwing.

Shot put training device.

What else is a modern athlete equipped with? shot putter? Another device allows you to improve the final force technique of the shot putter while fixing the position of the arm (hand and elbow).

In the installation (Fig. 2), core 3 is attached using a special rod 2 on a movable cart sliding on rollers (preferably with bearings) along the pipe. The pipe is fixed at an angle of 40... 45° with its upper end to the wall. Shock absorbers are installed at the upper and lower ends of the pipe - rigid springs with rubber plates 1. The lower end of the pipe should be made adjustable in height. This will allow athletes of different heights to use the device.

The device allows you to improve final effort technique in discus throwers.

The design of the installation is as follows (Fig. 3). A disk (preferably rubber) 2 is mounted on a movable frame 1 so that it can rotate. On one side, a spring 3 or a rubber band is attached to the frame, on the other, a rubber band 4 is attached to cushion the reverse motion of the disk. The level of the frame with the disk is adjusted on the bracket with a special limiter, which can be moved vertically into the holes. This device allows you to improve your final effort technique.
