Each of us knows how important good sleep is for health and overall well-being. However, as it turns out, not every month of the year is suitable for this uniform recuperation. According to a study conducted by specialists from the Sleepio center, February is the most unfavorable month for rest and sleep.
Pre- and post-New Year's fever, a surge of emotions, a large number of holidays and events lead to significant fatigue. However, you can only rest in March, since February is named by British scientists as the worst month for sleep.
The study was conducted with the participation of 21 thousand volunteers over the course of a year via the Internet. Experts observed people's sleep and made the following conclusions: it is in February that a person needs almost an hour to fall asleep, and another hour to come to his senses and be alert in the morning. At other times of the year, these figures are half as much. Also, a lot of people this month wake up in the middle of the night for at least 10 minutes and then go back to sleep.
According to Colin Espy, a professor at Sleepio, the nights are shorter and darker in February, which can also make it harder for people to get enough sleep. But once March comes, these problems will disappear.
What can you do to combat morning fatigue and lack of sleep in February? Experts recommend the following:
- Try to go to bed and wake up at the same time every day to set your internal biological clock.
- Avoid drinking alcohol and caffeine before bed, as they may interfere with sleep.
- Create a comfortable sleeping environment: a dark, cool and quiet room, a comfortable bed and pillows.
- Ventilate the bedroom and control air humidity.
- Before bed, you can drink tea made from herbs that promote relaxation: mint, chamomile, motherwort.
Don't forget that healthy sleep is the key to your well-being and efficiency during the day. Even during difficult months like February, try to create comfortable conditions for sleep and rest to maintain your energy and health.
